How has the economy treated other tmf'ers?

I was lucky enough to get a job offer today that I will be accepting. So it looks like I'll be back to work in about 2 weeks, pending a background check (clean) and drug screen (clean)!

Did I mention that I was happy for you? Shucks, darn-must have forgotten!

from a material standpoint ive benefitted from the recession, as my job's still going strong along with salary. and when i move this summer rents should be down (which in nyc means maybe i can find a decent studio for 1500)

but the whole thing is really depressing. my roomate got laid off, my good friend got laid off...

I'd believe it too because there are apartments going for close to 100 in my building. They're really small, but how many fancy things do you TRULY need?

Haha, thanks a lot man. Its in the medical field, which isn't what I went to school for, but it's a really secure market since it's for the government. I'm looking forward to it, it really came at the perfect time.

It's New York man, I interviewed for a job in Manhattan right after I graduated and was blown away by the rent prices. I used to live in South East Wisconsin and had an apartment ON Lake Michigan, literally, for $775 a month. Move 90 miles south and the same apartment, with that view, would have been closer to $1500. Its all about location.

So far, so good.

In fact, thanks to GWB I've gotten a slew of pay raises and benefits.

My worry is Obama will 'pull a Clinton' and downsize the military to ridiculously low levels and screw us again.

Hopefully this won't happen, since, well... people need jobs and all.

Things are tough for me these days.... a vegetarian pharmacy girl.... working in a meat dept cutting meat 3 days a week for pennies.... NO FUN.. I have looked for pharmacy jobs in 4 different states... it has been totally rough the last few months..... YEOOOWCCHHH

wow...up here it seemed like every other job I found wanted someone with pharmacy experience. I don't know how good they are since I never really looked into them, but they seemed like the only job in the sciences that there was an abundance of.

So far all is well

I think it ruined my chance of moving up inside the company and maybe being promoted to a different country. At least so far all is quiet and last year there were some good prospects.

Also the market is crazy which gives everyone less space to ask for better payment or find better jobs.

And still, things are going worst day by day in Portugal. I feel safe so far but many around here are not so lucky anymore 🙁
