Most of my r/l friends are 35-50, btw, so I'm the baby of that group, but most people I know online are under 30, so I'm the "grand dame" of the latter group 🙂

I was under the impression that there was no minimum drinking age in the UK. Either way it's one area they have us beat. Here you have to wait until you're 21 (18 in a few remote spots). Consequently of course everybody rushes out to get drunk as soon as they're told it's something they can't do.

They may have you drink at 21...but I promise people have been drinking since they were about 13 y/o!
For example, for my 15th birthday my mom bought me alochol because I asked her too, and it was also a way of her teaching me a lesson. She served me drink after drink, and I woke up with a huge hangover and she asked me if I was ever going to do that again...now when I go to parties, I barely drink; I watch the other people get drunk and pass out in people's lawns. 🙂

I didn't drink anything until I was about 16 and didn't get drunk for the first time until I was 18. Then I went through about a 6 month period where that was ALL I did.
Despite my many moments of regurgitation and hangovers I really do enjoy drinking. Though coming from a family with a history of addiction to various substances it's probably a good thing that I have virtually no access to alcohol. I haven't been drunk in over 3 years although if I were presented with a time and place where it was acceptable to be (enough time where I wasn't responsible for caring for my daughter) I'd quite happily drink myself into a stupor. 😛
But alas for me it never happens. 😀 I don't think I look old enough yet to order a drink in a resaraunt without ID (which I dont have) much less buy from a store!

I drank a bit at 13, more at 15, but never got too drunk.
I did get drunk once when I was 18 years old...by the time I sobered up (20 years old) I decided to take a break!!!! 🙂

Its "18" but its generally excepted that kids do have a few bevvys on the streets, tryin to hide them from any bizzies that go past.

Well my folks are ex-hippies and when they were kids they smoked pot and dropped acid and all that stuff but by the time I came along they had quit all that. I like a good bourbon now and then and I experimented with Ecstasy when I was younger but now I stay away from drugs. I am not a tee-totaller but I know when to say when.
