You score a TD and tie the game and have momentum swinging your way. You've fought back to possibly win this thing, so don't blow it.. oh wait.

No, let's spike the ball and ham it up a bit, you know, with an idiotic needless penalty because our players are too stupid to learn the rules, just to see one of those yellow thingies in the refs pocket and add, oh 15 yards to the ensuing kickoff.

Then.. for the real knee-slapper, let's watch them return the kickoff 70+ yards to all but end the game, with a rookie returner no less, who was even shielding his eyes in the sun.

I'm not a Cowboys fan, but these morons do not deserve to win anything. They can't even beat the Titans, a favorite playing at home, after a bye week, because of stupidity. Total morons.

Jason Witten gives the ball to Marc Colombo after every touchdown. The penalty was called on Colombo for unintentionally falling to the ground during the celebration. The refs were following the rules as they are written. NFL refs aren't smart enough to make their own sensible interpretations of rules.

Let's not blame the refs. Let's blame the Cowboys falling behind 17-3 to the Titans before they even knew what happened. The Refs did not throw three Interceptions. The Refs after the penalty did not allow a 73 yard return and a face masking penalty. And the refs didn't allow Chris Johnson to run in a TD on third and goal. So before you start blaming the refs, the Cowboys are 1-3 for a reason. And the refs are NOT that reason.

This thread is about one specific moment from Sunday's game. My comments were regarding that 5-second sequence of the game.

But your comment is an excuse. They made their interpretations. They were the correct interpretations ( unfortunately ). Had they not done that...there would have been no need to interpret anything now would there be? Plus why they were flagged was because Witten and Colombo chest bumped and Colombo went down as though he was doing a flip. They felt right there was excessive celebration. I don't like the rule myself...but the refs were smart and got the call right!

This thread was made to display the total stupidity of the Dallas Cowboys, hence the title. Second thing is, why give the ball to anyone?? Just lay it down or if you really have the need to give it to someone hand it to a referee.

Just hand the ball to the ref. Walk off the field. You still have momentum with no penalty and right now the Titans are a bit worried. You can stop these guys and there's plenty of time to win the game, right?

NO, instead, let's beat our chest and show off by stupidly spiking the ball like idiots and falling down and get a moronic penalty which deflates everything we've just accomplished. Way to go hero.

Instead of "America's Team", more like "America's Stupidest NFL Team".

I wonder if Wade is looking through the want ads today? He should be.

The Dallas Cowboys are stupid because of Jason Witten and Marc Columbo doing something unwise?

Are the 49ers stupid because Alex Smith coughed up the ball untouched for a game-changing touchdown Sunday night? Were the Chiefs stupid because Dwayne Bowe suddenly forgot how to catch passes against the Colts?

That's about players who should know better making bad decisions. If you want teams that do foolish things, you should look to things like the Redskins losing to the Rams because they got caught looking ahead to playing the Eagles or the Bears' offensive line being woefully unprepared by the coaching staff for the Giants or the Charger's special teams being badly coached enough to allow 30 points against them this season already.

And none of those things make a team stupid. They just make for bad strategy. Lots of teams with bad strategic moves and lapses in judgement turn things around to win. Don't forget, Trent Dilfer has a Super Bowl ring.

I agree that players can make bad decisions and that does not warrant a "stupid" team. Those two boneheads are only a part of what I am referring to as continual, collective bad decisions. Look at the Cowboys stats for the last 4 games. The number of turnovers, penalties and special teams failures and predictable play calling. That's why imo the Cowboys are a "stupid" team. It's one thing to lack the talent necessary to provide desired outcomes and produce the numbers the Cowboys have this season. It's another to not only have the talent, but to be expected to win your division and even by some, to win the championship - and still produce those same numbers.

You win as a team and you lose as a team. This isn't just about Witten and Columbo. The idiotic outcomes they provided are only a part of a long, continual, collective list of much the same. "Stupidity".

I agree that the Cowboys are definitely not playing up to their full potential, and in general they're not playing enough smart football.

Heeko, I think your second post was actually a really good argument. Your first post gave me the impression that you were ripping the Cowboys for one bad moment by a couple of players.

The game wasn't lost by handing the ball to another player. They've done it numerous times before. They'll do it more this season and you won't hear anything about it.

I think you may be right. I believe they call it "The Red Hot Chili Peppers Play". Standard play this year in the Cowboys playbook.

I just saw this post and it's so damn funny about how appropriate it is. How stupid are the Dallas Cowboys??? How STUPID are the Dallas Cowboys?? Well, boys and girls, they're STUPID enough to get a 15 yard excessive celebration penalty ON THE VERY FIRST TOUCHDOWN THEY SCORE TODAY!! LMFAO!! That's how STUPID the Dallas Cowboys are. End of discussion. :laughhard:

I think they actually invent ways to improve on their stupidity during practice. And the fun continues..

In case you missed the fun fact today: Only 5% of NFL teams that have started 1-4 have made the playoffs since 1990.

Give it away, give it away, give it away now..

"Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." -- George Santayana

The Dallas Cowboys might want to brush up on their Spanish philosophers.

One week after a celebration penalty played a pivotal role in the team's loss to the Tennessee Titans, the Cowboys went out and got another one after scoring its first touchdown Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings. So much for learning from past mistakes.

Hmmm.. and what was the title of this thread?

Lets see, hand the ball to the big stupid lineman to spike and then leap frogging idiots... I am sure they have a few more idiot endzone celebrations in store for us.

They weren't flagged for spiking the ball or leap-frogging.

Wait. If they weren't flagged for leap frogging, what were they flagged for?

How 'bout them Cowboys?

The NFL said they were flagged for Sam Hurd throwing up the "hook 'em horns" symbol with Roy Williams.

Prime...don't let him fool you...the backjudge threw the flag after Austin's leaping over Williams. Fiend feels te need to defend stupidity. How is 1-4 feeling Fiend? Still Super Bowl bound? I would be more incline to say you are Tidy Bowl bound. :panic:

Oh, so it wasn't the leapfrogging, it was the "Hook em horns" instead. That is so much better. Either way, the Cowboys were morons for doing it, which is the point of this thread. lol

I would love to make fun of the Cowboys. Believe me, I really would. They were supposed to be in the Super Bowl and people like Flock of Seagulls actually amused us by saying silly things like "A friend of mine who is a die-hard Steelers fan told me it would be great if the Cowboys played in the Super Bowl". It is fun watching them suffer...

However, I can't say much because my 49ers are 1-5 and we have a horrible QB. That's why I love fantasy football. Keeps the NFL interesting to me....

They played themselves into this hole and hopefully they can play themselves out. They'll do this by reducing mistakes or overcoming them. They still have the same chances as everyone else.

As I said in the other Dallas Cowboys thread, I think the Cowboys have to defeat the Giants on Monday night if they want to salvage their season. 1-5 is just too big a hole go climb out of, especially with tough games later in the season and a huge divisional deficit to New York (and maybe Philly, depending on their game with the Titans).

But if they win and they can overcome their internal issues, they could still make a run. But it won't be easy.

I've been watching professional football since it started being broadcasted
back in the late 50's. Back then when someone scored there were just a few
slaps on the back or handshakes. It's really starting to become rediculus. I
guess it all started with Mark Gasteneau. That silly assed dance he used to do
after a sack. After all, these guys are called "professional", and they should
act so accordingly.
Just my two cents.
