Being touchy feely communicates genuine interest, which usually happens after a man's wit cuts right through a woman's bullshit. To be touchy feely before some sort of connection is established communicates something else. The act is suppose to be enjoyable for BOTH people involved... not just used for personal gain.

It's a good thing you can allegedly defend yourself, because you're gonna have to do so with somebody who will push the envelop further on getting physical without a regard to your sexual repression and low self-esteem needing instant gratification ego boosts and free stuff.

If you wont to read what ever odd theories you have into a bit of harmless and innocent fun then thats you're choice love but you couldn't be more wrong. More often than not this sort of thing is a way to introduce you're self to somebody in an icebreaker situation and it's worked many times and has lead to more.
