and now that im not so tired.. time for a more accurate account of hurricane frances.. and let me just say before this, that i am 19 years old.. so that should help put the story into more perspective.. i spent the morning of the 4th (the day it was projected to start hitting us, im in orlando) at work.. i work in the service deli at a grocery store.. so me and my manager had to take all the perishables (pretty much EVERYTHING) from our department and move it to different coolers in preparation of a power outage.. i worked 6am-11am, and then from 11-11:30 i had to stand outside and wave people off telling them we were closed.. one dude actually tried to fight me haha..
so then i got home and figured it would be best not to go anywhere, as the expectations of this hurricane seemed immense. so i spent the rest of the day sitting around, eating, and playing video games (im a video game freak).. now when nighttime came around, it was supposed to be when we would be getting hit very hard.. so me.. i popped about 4 prescription sleeping pills and i was fine 😎 haha
i awoke the next morning to the sounds of the rain and wind, as the 70+ mph winds were still going strong and it had been raining since the day before.. i got out of bed at 8:30 am, and SUDDENLY... boom, power goes out... now let me tell you.. the next 8 hours were the worst and most boring hours of my life.. i was trapped in my house with none other than my immediate family.. and no thats not a good thing for me.. i spent most of the time sleeping, playing guitar (my only hurricane supply haha), or reading some of my textbooks.. the winds and rain and storms continued throughout the day, but the worst of it was over by about 4pm. at that point, i called my buddy who lives on the other side of town, and he still had power.. so i packed my things up (not really) and headed over there..
haha so then from 4pm sunday until 11pm monday night (when i got home finally) i spent the day the way it should be spent when a storm is hitting you and is bigger than the state you are in.. WASTED.. me and 4 or 5 buddies.. drinking smoking.. all day all night.. haha
the aftermath of the storm was not as bad as expected (not even CLOSE to the damage from charly).. many places lost power, but it was soon restored.. minor flooding of ponds, streams, creeks, rivers, lakes, etc.. nothing too major.. there werent too many trees down this time either, as charly didnt leave many standing.. and now things are basically getting back to normal, except for the prospect of Ivan hitting us also.. oh well.. ill be ready for it
so theres my experience with frances.. i hope everybody/anybody else who experienced it made it through alright
