I am boycotting Yahoo!

I am getting pretty sick of Yahoo! and Yahoo! Groups. Without warning, and without warrent they have blocked my Yahoo! email and also have blocked my account to Yahoo! Groups, stating that I was sending mass spam.

The only messages I have posted have been to either promote my tickling website (which is clearly on-topic) and to promote our yearly North Texas Gathering (once again on-topic).

What has be baffled is that I have reported blantant spam on Yahoo! Groups to the proper Yahoo! authorites, but they were too busy digging the crap out of their ass to do anything about them.... but they have all the free time in the world to close my account when I have done nothing to violate their TOS policy.

I have notifed Yahoo of my severe displeasure with their antics and unless they restore my account by 12p tomorrow and issue an apology to me, I will never ***ever*** again do business with Yahoo! or any of their sponsors, advertisers, and/or subsidaries.

I agree! Too bad it would be impossible to track down who all are their sponsors, advertisers, and/or subsidaries to know who to boycot! 🙂

I will give Yahoo until 12pm tomorrow to re-instate my account and issue an apology. If they fail to make amends for their errors, I will boycott them and everybody associated with them, as planned.

Yahoo disgusts me. They're the ULTIMATE example of how a free host eventually turns to shit. NOBODY should use yahoo.

I am with you!

Yeah I'm with you on that subject and yahoo does suck ass and majorly. I hope you boycott them they deserve it.

Thumbs up!

I concur. I've recently learned that I've been unable to receive mail from my father and stepmother for over a month because Yahoo's software has decided they were spamming me. I've since corrected this problem, but still don't know how many other people are unable to email me.

yahoo sucks bigtime, I only use it to leach clips, yet it just doesn't work properly lately

LOL, Yahoo bashing party!!! Such fun, cheap shots and all.😛 Well, as an occasional Yahoo user myself I can certainly attest to its failures, numerous that they are. However, a thing to note: it IS a free service, and therefore is provided free of charge to you, (DUH)😛 so you really have no rights when it comes to issues with it, and since it is free, you really can't complain, at least, not too much.😛

Yahoo has always been the attraction of scum, and now yahoo has been stomped on big time by authorities, and so those of us who use it from time to time, are paying the price. I agree with all said above. Yahoo was the first to go overboard on allowing extremely bad taste and behavior, and now things are cathcing up with them!
Msn has changed their policies a lot too. As for spam reporting, resulting in emails being blocked, I guess that's just part of the chaos from Yahoo.

Word of this has broken out everywhere. I'm an artist in this community and I have my own group featuring my own artwork. A fellow artist, Cheshire Cat, has had everything of his deleted, even e-mail addresses with no reason what so ever.

My art is "clean". It features nothing more than barefoot anime characters and sometimes tickling. That is in no way pornography or indecent material. I fear that Yahoo! will get to me eventually, and for what? This pisses me off!

If I am able, or we are able as a community, I would like nothing more than to boycott Yahoo!. The truth is, these fat cats need the likes of us who use their free service. Its because of us that they are able to function properly atall. We generate attention and build reason for customers to pay for their service. To be treated as trash in return is unforgiveable, and I hope they get whats coming to them!

Well I offered Cheshire Cat his own forum spot since he has so many original artwork pieces. But he has yet to reply to my e-mail sent to him.

I am open to the idea of providing forums for artists to share their material. But it would be for people who have a good amount of art since we don't want tons of forums with 1 or 2 pieces of work in them.

Playing with the idea of having a Subforum within Tickling Art forum that leads to individual Artists forums. Then I could even provide a subdomain for the artist that would redirect to their forum.

I update my yahoo group often enough. I'm definitely not one of those people that draws a picture and never follows up with any more or you never hear from them again. I'm now a well-established artist in this community and I've been around since october of last year, and I have over 1,300 members to date. My artwork and skill is exceptional and puts me among the veterans (CC, etc.) in this community.

If your indirectly suggesting/offering I might also have a forum of my own, then I would consider it with gratitude.

Kindest regards,

- Damien

I was playing around with the forum manager part of the site. I think the best route would be to do what I have done for the Image Gallery.

There would be a new media forum on the main page under the Image Gallery called Artists Pad. Then there would be individual subforums in that Artists Pad for different tickling artists. There would be no posting in the actual Artists Pad like there is now in Image Gallery. Only one thread would be there, and that would be the rules/how to apply thread.

The artist would be moderator of his or her own forum to manage it as they see fit with the help of the main crew. Also, each artist would get their own artistname.tickletheater.com address to forward to their section of the board. Naturally all the global site rules would have to be followed and enforced.

I would like to have a few artists be interested before I start changing the appearance of the community. So if you could convince some other artists to join you Celtic I think we have a deal. Remember they have to have a good bit of artwork under their belt to get their own forum. 🙂

I dont have much yet TT but I'd be interested in the future! I'll get to work! Great idea, btw!

@ TickleTheater- Aye, we have an accord. I know of several artists that have enough artwork to warrant having a forum of their own. Just in case Yahoo! comes after me, its nice to know I have a place here. Perhaps this is the answer I've been looking for. Thanks alot. Do you have any specific number you would require before you can make this happen? I'm not sure how many I could get.

@ nessonite- Every little bit helps. Thanks.

I recommend free UK-based www.smartgroups.com as an alternative -- I use it as backup for my own Yahoo sites. They have much easier photo uploads with zip folder support, and no daily file download limit 🙂 They also allow the adult groups to be indexed, unlike Yahoo.

Luv,
Valerie

Every problem has a solution. Or so the saying goes.

EDIT: Thanks for the tip, Valerie.

😀 🙂 Tickle Theater, What do you consider "a good bit of artwork". I usually create 1 cartoon a day at the least and perhaps I have some unseen cartoons in my various Yahoo and Smart Groups. If the offer is still available I will follow Chesire and Celtic's lead. 😀 🙂
