I have nothing against homosexuals, they were born that way after all, most of them at least, the true ones anyway. And I understand their wanting to be with someone, who does not? Still I don't agree with the homosexual acts. Nothing against them, they're not evil, or meaning harm, I just don't agree that homosexual sexual encounters. I believe they are born to be celebate. Not an easy thing to be, but that's what I believe, and yes I do believe its the life that was meant for me also, though no, I'm not a homosexual myself.

Hang in there kid. Your head is in the right place. Even if some may not like the gay lifestyle, that is still no reason to harrass someone because of their sexual prefrence. You need to understand that alot of these bozos dont really dislike your friend, but what he represents to them. And what he represents is a deep dark fear they themselves have about their own uncertain sexuality.

But do keep in mind that it is not worth wasting all your energy on hating others. That all consuming anger will eat you inside out. Perhaps you can find some sutle way in your peer group to raise awareness and tolerance. These things happen slowly but we did have a Civil Rights Movement here in the States and though things are not perfect a little awareness raising comes a long way. Good luck yourself and your friend your both very brave.

Good work colleague of mine is gay probably the most unassuming gay person ive seen you wouldnt think hes gay and he doesnt want to tell the world he's gay, Its the only gripe I tend to have with homosexuals. Yes your gay fantastic whatever floats your boat, but you dont need to do the diva loudmouth routine 24/7 to show it.

But that doesnt make me shout abuse at someone for there sexual orientation...sadly this isnt true for everyone

This is pretty much my take on the subject as well.

I used to work alongside a gay coworker who just had a huge chip on her shoulder. Everything was about anti-gay this or that. In that year I learned a lot from her including some things I could've done without knowing. But when I had a family member struggling to find her sexuality, this same gay woman took the time to help me walk my family member through her issues. I don't think we would've made it without her help.

I am 100% hetero--I love men!! However, I have learned that you can't always control who you love and room should be made for those who love on a same-gender basis. A closed mind never grows and things that don't grow eventually die, IMO.

Gamegirl, I appreciate your passion and support of your friend. As an old-schooler to a young woman on the rise I'd like to agree with Redmage and those who say that unresolved anger issues will eventually consume you. So learn to work your way through them while you're still young; you'll enjoy your life so much more after releasing the anger. Don't let it make you bitter and old before your time.

The world is a big place, and thus, there is plenty of room for everyone. Need I remind anyone here that we are all a bit deviant ourselves, many of us are in the closet, many face similar difficulties to those of the homosexual population when they are open about their fetishes; albeit nowhere near the level of intensity that a gay person goes through when they out themselves. The point is, that we are all children of the same god, whether you call him/her God, Elvis, Allah, Jehovah, Yaweh, Lemmy, Cookie Monster, whatever. We all deserve to be treated with respect and understanding. Being humans, we all suffer from our own prejudices, but we were given the gift of cognative reasoning so that we could consider the validity of our emotions and viewpoints before we act on them. Just because we are uncomfortable with someone, or we find someone elses way of living/lovemaking/praying/whatever offensive, does not mean we have to act negatively towards them. This reasoning capability is what seperates humans from other animals. Animals act on their emotions with no forethought, and when we do the same, we fail to live up to our full potential as human beings. So please, next time you feel like ridiculing or berating someone for sex, sexual alignment, race, religion, or that funny birthmark on their face, remember that we all deserve the same attention to consideration and love.
