I was visiting the big city (Tucson) recently, and saw something I had no idea existed anymore: a still-operating drive-in theater. I had to look twice to make sure I was really seeing it. I thought the drive-in went extinct sometime in the 80s, at least. Not only was this one still running, but it was the same place I remember going to as a kid - something of a nice surprise there.

Oh yeah! we have one about an hour away, they are awesome.. I saw shark tale there.. (I know, I'm a loser)

🙂

I saw the last Pirates of the Carribean at one.

Oh yeah, they're around but seemingly few in number. We have one called Bengie's in a little snippet of Baltimore known as Middle River. I think those types of things are cool.

theres this one in jersey, the delsea drive in. it is great. you get two movies, for really cheap. Its usually a kids one, and then a rated r or pg 13 one. the best is when they do the horror movies around halloween. the food at the concession stand is cheap and really good, you can even get random appetizer things like chicken fingers and egg rolls. they sell light up bracelets and swords and glow in the dark stuff. and theres a stewarts right near by, which is so fun. its like an hour and a half away from me, but its so worth it to come home at 4 am after having fun. its great in the summer, man, i want to go now.

The Mesa Drive-In still operates seasonally in Pueblo, although it has threatened to close for good for years now.

this site is great. I love drive ins, its so sad when they tear them down, when I was little my mom used to drive me by this abandoned one, the screen was still there, and tell me all the movies she had seen there, and how her and her sisters would fall asleep in the car. Now that area has been turned into a target, how romantic.

Up until a few years ago, Saskatchewan had a few around the Saskatoon area.

They were pretty impractical in the summer because it dosen't get dark until eleven (or, at the very least at the end of the summer) nine at night.

Even in Canada, nobody had the balls to sit through a drive-in show in november through march.

I remeber hearing on the radio some suburbanite **** claiming that the closing of all drive-in's was a good thing because it discouraged our modern youth from feeling liberated to drink and do drugs in the safety of a secluded environment while surrounded by honest people who paid their hard-earned money after a long week of exhausting labour were forced to deal with the debauchery of our modern times at the only "place they could find true solace and escape."

Apparently, Mrs. Flea Market wasn't present when I was attending "Wolf," "Robinhood: Men in Tights," and "The Mask." in the middle of our great and clean downtown Cinemas.

It sill boggles my mind how I managed to avoid incarceration.

Especially after the "Incident."

Always wanted to go to one, but they seem to be mostly in the rural parts of the state here, versus the city. And I don't drive. So therein lies the problem.

If I could choose an awesome first date ... a drive-in would be my choice!

Drive-ins suck to see a movie. ive gone a bunch of times, and no matter what the movie was, i couldnt get into it. :sowrong:

We still have one operating about 8 miles north of here. Haven't been to it in many years but I always thought they were fun.

That drive-in is located about five minutes from my house. I walk past it every morning when I take my morning strolls. It used to be called the Cactus Drive-In back in the '60s and '70s but it's been known as the De Anza Drive-In since the '80s, I believe. The last time I went there I took a date and the last thing she and I were interested in was the movie, if you get my drift. Here's a pic of the place:

The last drive in theater i saw a moovie at was in Braintree Mass it is now the Logan Express shuttle to and from the Airport, anyway the movies I had seen there was Breaking Away and For Your Eyes Only

Perhaps you should try parking so that your car is FACING the screen. :headpat:

LMAO.😀

There's a drive in theater in Brenham, and 90 miles from Austin.I think it's only open on weekends. If there are any closer i don't know of them.Saw a lot of great movies at drive ins when i was a kid.

When i was living in Houston back in the 80s there was a drive in in Pasadena that only showed *adult* movies. Not sure how they got away with that.:idunno:
