I heard this song a few months ago on the radio, so I decided to do an internet check on her expecting fo see some little white chick (which seems to be the running theme, thus lending creedence to my personal adage: There is always a direct correlation to how hard core the rap/hip hop to how white and sheltered the singer/listener is).

I was pleasently surprised to see that there is actually somebody from that so-called musical genre that has actually earned their bones in the world and are ACTUALLY speaking from personal experience.

PS: In answer to the hot dog vendor question, most videos are shot out of context. They sing about one thing and do another in a video.

In this case, it is veeeerrrry dangerous for a record company to truly illustrate what she is singing about.

To be blunt, all record companies make their money selling angst and in yo' face rebellion that dosen't really mean anything or really have a point of origin...God forbid that they made a video in context that might cause the youth of today to seriously consider what the fuck is going on around them in this world. They might actually realise that they are...Tools and attemp to bring down the very system that has been using them as mindless cash cows for the last two decades.

Alls I know is that when the movie "Pineapple Express" came out, this song was suddenly everyone's favorite song. I mean, I loved it before that, but saying that makes me sound dreadfully hipster.

But yeah, MIA is ballin'. Dear God even I can't believe I just said that. She's so good I'm even reducing myself to using the term "ballin'"

And she's definatly legit, and political.

You should have a look for Bucky Done Gun on PooJoobe; that's MOAR annoyingly catchy than Paper Planes, and she's not dressed like an 80's disaster thus looks MOAR fit than she does in the Paper Planes video.

Heeey. Yeah. You're right. She's way hotter here. ^^ But she sort of lost that legit appeal to me. Her lyrics are still meaningful but I think she seemed far less mainstream on Paper Planes.

It's a trade up, you know.

She still reminds me of Ru, so she's still super hawt.

Bucky Done Gun was her debut single, so she probably didn't have as much freedom as she does now in expressing herself musically or in terms of her image. Her fashion is a bit crazy, but I think her hair is neato.
