I have a question about age and tickling?

Are you more ticklish now then when you were a kid? Or were you more ticklish as a kid? Also has your ticklishness changed? For example, is your most ticklish spot the same now as when you were a kid?

For me I’m more ticklish now. Growing up my feet were quite ticklish but, a lifetime of going around bare foot has changed that. My feet aren’t really that ticklish any more. My stomach and sides on the other hand is quite a different story. I’m waaay more ticklish there now then I ever was. If someone tickles me there I’m begging for them to stop with in 20 seconds. It’s like when my feet become desensitized all of their ticklishness went to my stomach and sides.

It seems to vary from person to person.

In my case, I'm much less ticklish around my neck and underarms than when growing up...but at age 42, my feet and around my waist are just as ticklish as ever...so are my knees.

My girlfriend is 38 and says she's definitely more ticklish now on her bare feet than at age 17....because she indulges in weekly pedicures, and usually wears flip flops outside rather than being barefoot. My 19 yr old baby sister says the same thing....her feet are more ticklish now than a few years ago, due to less "barefooting" outside than when in high school (and more frequent pedicures). Both of them are just as ticklish on their underarms/ sides/ tummies now as I remember as kids.

My oldest sis is also 38, and told me recently she's still "ticklish as hell everywhere"....just as ticklish as when she was 16 (rates her ticklishness as "100+" on a scale of 1-10).

Ticklishness (especially on the feet) must run in my family...because I have several elderly relatives (70 yr old dad; 90 yr old grandmother; 89 yr old great aunt) who are all still extremely ticklish. I recently saw my great aunt burst into laughter from a nurse's diabetic foot exam in the hospital...she was laughing like a teenage girl, and told the nurse afterwords it was "lordy, that was torture" (the cute little 30'ish nurse apologized...said her feet were extremely ticklish too 😀

I agree it depends upon the person but my ticklishness never really changed, i have always been extremely ticklish, i think as i got older some newer areas became more ticklish since they werent tickled as much as a kid

I am very ticklish and I am every bit as ticklish, if not more so, as an adult as when I was a kid. Also, as an adult, I have discovered that I have many more very ticklish aeas than I knew about as a kid. I think being aware of ticklishness adds to the psychological element of it all.

I'm with ya here, plus if you throw in an erotic element to it, well, you know....😀
If anything, it's gotten more intense...

Good question...

I HATED being tickled when I was younger (childhood through early adulthood); it bordered on being painful.

Now, at the age of 47, I actively seek out tickling opportunities such as gatherings; and of course I have my dearest kwildoctr to tickle me on a daily basis. 🙂 :redheart:

I have found that I am now basically just one head-to-toe tickle-spot...places I never thought of as possible tickle-spots ARE tickle-spots! (Like my elbow!) 😀

actually with me its decreassed I dont laugh anymore when my feet are tickled I jump. My ex girlfriend use to get my ribs when I was off guard same responce. Lets just say the reason shes an ex dealt with a whip

yuck...

I so don't get that in people at ALL! Sorry to hear it.

XOXO

lol That's one reason I never tickled any of women in the martial classes I went to..one already knew I was ticklish (damn her...sneaking up behind me and grabbin the back of my neck..that tickled like hell! lol 😛 )...and I'm sure the others would've ganged up on me. lol

Plus the fact that we practiced in part of a gym at college, while other classes were going on. It might've been a little embarrassing for someone to find out all the yelling for mercy wasn't me getting killed or beat up lol

My ticklishness level's been the same since I was little, but I do know it changes on some people as they get older. Why it happens to some and not others I have no clue.

Forgive the temporary thread-hijacking...

There has been a theory that age can decrease ticklishness, and while it may be true for some people, it isnt always for others.
In my family, I once saw my grandmother get tickled by my grandfather on her foot when she was in her 70s, and she went nuts. She claimed that through their lives, while he never really tickled her, if he so much as brushed her foot in bed it would send her through the roof.
My aunt is 62, and she has always been extremely ticklish her whole life. A couple of times when she was in her 40s, I saw my grandmother get her and she went ballistic. Then, not long ago, about a year or two back, my cousin tickled her feet and she seemed just as bad.
This brings us to me. As I've posted on here many times, I've been tickle tortured quite a bit, especially in summer camp and in college. As I've stated, I'm very ticklish, and this drove me up the wall. While no one has intentionally tickled me lately, even an exam by the doctor where they feel around in my belly drives me through the roof. In fact, sometimes if I flinch, they have to ask me if it's pain or just ticklish. So, while ticklishness can decrease with age, its not always true for all people, and in my family and for me, it doesnt seem that age had any decrease on our ticklishness.

personally, im more ticklish now, which is insane. during the first...oh, 2 (?) years of high school, i wasn't ticklish at all...only when i was much younger. i somehow lost it. then, when i got with my boyfriend, he would test out that theory, and slowly but surely found more and more spots, and now im INSANELY ticklish! i dont know how it happened, it just kinda did....but that's my odd little story

Very interesting topic...

Most of the girls that I've tickled have been ticklish and I haven't asked most of them if they were more or less ticklish when they were younger. My high school girlfriend was ticklish when we first started going out but then taught herself to not be ticklish and as far as I now has remained non-ticklish.

I did have the privilege to go out with a very attractive 41 year old last year and she was only moderatly ticklish. She was ticklish (somewhat) on her feet and on a certain area of her breasts but she wasn't that ticklish on other places of her body.

One afternoon I was tickling her stomach/ribs/sides, or at least I was trying to tickle her and she was just kinda sitting there smilng at me. I asked her if she used to be more ticklish when she was younger and she quickly replied with a cute somewhat embarrassed "yes".

As for me I remember a very cute lifeguard tickling my feet by the pool when I was a kid and I just kinda sat there saying I guess I'm not ticklish. However, I remember my ex-gf tickling my feet last year and I went crazy.

Age?....

I don't think age has anything to do with ticklishness. Some people have been known to change overtime when it comes to their ticklishness (if any). My girlfriend, who is 30, is very ticklish on her feet. But she will only react to the tickling when I literally tickle her feet. Some women will react when their feet are touched under any circumstances.
