I miss (American) Pro Football...anybody else?

ah yes, my friend tickletoy chimes in. As usual, you don't see the point. No one here is saying rugby players aren't good athletes. We all realize they have skills and are good at what they do. The point is, someone decided to characterize American football players as being "wussies" compared to rugby players.

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't a "wussy" a weakling? If that is the case, then someone called American football players weaklings and do not compare to the "strength" of rugby players because they wear pads.

Do you see the point of our debate, or are you going to continue with your embarrassing comments? Learn the topic before chiming in....

We won't see a NFL player doing well in rugby, just like we won't see a rugby player doing well in the NFL. Like you said, apples and oranges. But why does the rest of the world think American football players are weak because they wear pads? You know NFL players are "freaks of nature" and the hits they perform are FAR more devastating than any rugby hit. Simple physics prove that. I would definitely say NFL athletes are definitely not "wussies" Agree?

I anxiously await your reply....man, it is always fun debating with you...

by the way Tickletoy, the next installment of my wrestling series will be appearing soon. Be on the lookout...

okay jugner, i will meet you halfway.

Rugby DOES require more stamina to play than American football. But, so does "soccer". Does that make American football players "wussier" than soccer players? I dont think so.
Well, so does track, that's different.

Your stance, or at least I think your stance, is American football isnt as "rough" as rugby. Now, even in your last post, you are even admitting football players hit harder. So, if they hit harder, how are they "lesser" than rugby players?
I said they hit harder than I would take, but I wouldn't take one by a rugby player either.
Honestly football players can afford to get bigger and bulk up more, so they probably can hit harder, but not repeadetly. Plus they're in pads.

Look, rugby is no doubt a brutal sport. We all admit that. Our whole point to you is that American football players are some of the toughest athletes walking this planet, yet we have other countries thinking they are "lesser" men than rugby players or Australian rules football players. Now, please enlighten me, but are there former professional rugby players or Aussie rules football players nearly crippled in their later years due to playing the sport? I really dont know, so i am hoping you can tell me. I KNOW there are American football players with that problem. We just dont understand why other nations believe our players are "wusses". But if any of them were to just attend a NFL training camp, they would change their minds. They wouldnt last....Not even rugby players.
I don't know about many, but of those I do know, yes. Knees, hips, and occasionally shoulders are shot.

The internationals I've spoke with ( a lot) think the pads, and especialy the stoppage of play make footbaall an easier sport and less brutal.

Wussy has nothing to do with strength. Long distance runners are generally pretty thin, i don't consider them wussy. I never said,or at least meant, that football players are wussy. Just the sport is when compared to rugby. Wussy means easier when using it to compare.
