so i really like this guy. last week, he and i were talking, and he mentioned that this bar nearby has reggae night on thursdays. he casually said "we should go sometime" and i said "yeah, i could go next week". and it's next week now and he still hasn't said anything about it. i want to bring it up, but i don't want to hint that i like him because he has a girlfriend and i don't wanna make shit awkward between us. how do i do this without making a gimongous asshole out of myself?

Just ask him if he was up for hanging out that night. -- If you come off as relaxed and nonchalant about it, then you prolly don't have much to worry about it.

I tend to agree. Speaking from a male perspective, I'd likely respond favorably to this. But everyone is different, so good luck Emily.

Can we not completely shit on the parade here? So what if she likes him? I don't think that immediately constitutes as "prowling around" any perimeters.

Seriously? This guy you're trying to get your hooks in is spoken for? Have you taken out an insurance policy? 😛

yeah, FU, borgy. we've been friends since before he was dating this girl, and i haven't made a move worth a shit. so don't even give me crap about this.

Fair enough. Keep it clean then -- it would be very shitty to try win someone over who is currently in a relationship though, if that is even remotely your intention. Unless it's pretty much over, or a completely abusive or crap relationship (on his mate's part) you've gotta respect.

you're reading into this way too much.

In your dreams, lol.

If you've been friends for so long, why are you getting so bent out of shape that he invited you to chill -- a routine practice among friends.

Keep a cool head, RUH-LAX, and though cliche -- be the real you. When girls hang out with me, and they're all tense and jerky and a ball of nerves it's a huge turn off. Confidence and composure are very attractive.

i'm getting "bent out of shape" because i'm really, really into him. he and this girl have been dating for like three weeks, so i see no harm in testing the waters a bit. i'm not going to ever deliberately do anything that'd fuck with his relationship, i just want to see how things pan out between us.

Don't take this the wrong way, but if he hasn't been in a relationship prior to three weeks ago (assuming) why didn't you go after him? Were you embarrassed, or so sure he'd turn you down? Who gives a shit about that stuff. You should have more faith in yourself to begin with. I think you'd be suprised with what happens.

You texted him at ~20 minuted before 4 PM, or less than half an hour ago. I'm no person to consult about relationships, but I'd say tying yourself in knots after a half-hour is a bit excessive. Give it some time; he may be away from his phone. Instant gratification is the norm today, but sometimes one must wait. 🙂

One more reason why I am glad I don't use this "texting" wizardry.

i don't know, man. i wish i had an answer.
