does anybody here know how to add computer mods to games?

Eh? A computer mod or a mod of a game? If you speak of enabling or otherwise installing a modded version of a game, installation depends on the mod. For instance, one mod for Homeworld2 I have utilized has its own installer that seamlessly adds itself to your computer. Another mod requires you to copy and paste specific files into the game's program folder, changing a shortcut/creating a new one for use in playing the mod.

A mod is a modified game, a game changed (Often by adding files or editing existing ones) to make the game do something it was never designed to do. For instance, Homeworld2, which I mentioned, has a mod that lets you utilize spacecraft from the "Star Wars" franchise, something it certainly was never originally conceived to do.
