I've never seen a prolonged vanilla tickle torture, but I have seen a vanilla M/F non-consensual tickling that lasted about one minute. It was in a college dormitory in 1970. The people involved were just acquaintances living in the same dorm, not romantically involved. He was angry because she and her roommate had borrowed a vacuum cleaner and not returned it for a couple of days.

It depends on the context. I’ve been around tickling long enough to have an idea whether someone is in legit distress.

If the person being tickled looks like they can’t breathe or shows signs that they are not okay with it, then I’d “check in”.

Otherwise, I’d leave them to it. In retrospect, a number of times in my high school days that I saw any tickling happen, it wasn’t necessarily consensual but generally was quick.

I get mortified in vanilla setting when I see tickling happen. In part, because I feel like those partaking in i wouldn’t do it so casually if they knew folks who might be turned on by it could see it

I don’t see it happen outside of play spaces these days, but I’m also a shut in.

When I was young and in school, the class emptied out for recess/lunch and there were 2 guys still in the room with this really attractive blonde girl named Katrina. Obviously we know ticklephiles exist, so it stands to reason that some of them might be into it like we are, but I think it's much more likely they are not. In the sexual arousal context, I feel like a much higher number of people would use tickling as an excuse to touch, thereby being turned on by the contact, rather than being turned on by the act of tickling itself. Tickling has been used in flirting and similar behaviors forever without having any connection to kink or fixation. Just as much as it stands to reason that some of them might be into it, it also stands to reason that people may do something that we would also do, but with completely different and difficult to relate to motivations.

tbh I use to think and actually I started thinking it again recently that practically all girls actually find it extremely cute seeing a guy being tickle tortured to absolute bits or at least knowing about his ticklishness in some way and everything in between

I think there is mainly just something about tickling and ticklishness that makes other humans go ‘awwwww’
 
When I was in high school, I was part of a literature group that had its own private commons room, where we all spent most of our time outside of class. I saw a LOT of tickling there - mainly m/f and f/f, and occasional f/m.

There was only one other guy there who I suspected was "into it." For the rest it was just fun and flirting. But it was routine and popular. None of it could be called "extreme," but it often went on for several minutes. (I had another friend who I strongly suspected was gay and a tickle fetishist, but he wasn't part of the literature group.)

I've had phases where I actually believed I was lonely enough that I gave up the interest in tickling, so I'm going to put it this way:

I think that some people can be wired for tickling, but if you really examine that wire, endpoint to endpoint, that the tickling is more a case of where they started in their interest.

I think this attributes to when we think we "convert" someone, it's usually considered temporary; the human brain is naturally wired to think that a certain degree of human sexuality "tingles", where if we focus on it like we do, it's more of a "tickling" interest.

I think other people are kind of raised with the primitive approach of intercourse, but that there's a few degrees that separate it from tickling (mostly the penetration).

Why? Because why is oral sex a thing? Probably the tickling.
