Back in the mid-1980s, teenagers had "paper routes", meaning we delivered newspapers to people's houses.
I had a paper route when I was 15 (1985). The paper was an afternoon paper, so I would make my deliveries in the late afternoon after school. I made a delivery to a couple of houses on a street in my neighborhood, then I turned the corner to head to the next block. What I saw next stopped me in my tracks. An older boy and girl in the neighborhood were on the lawn in front of the girl's house. The boy had the girl pinned down on the lawn and was tickling her all over. She had most of her clothes on, but I remember her shoes had come off and I could see her stockinged feet. He seemed to be a good tickler. He constantly moved his hands to different body parts so she could never get used to it. I was enthralled by the way he could switch from belly to armpits to feet so easily. She was obviously VERY ticklish, yet I couldn't hear her laughing. Later, on this site amongst others, I learned about "silent laughter". 😆 She also seemed to be one of those people who go into "tickle paralysis", as she didn't seem very effective in protecting herself. I'm not sure how long I stood there watching them, but it must have been a few minutes. I think the boy saw me watching them and enjoyed giving me a show. I finally managed to get back to work, but the tickling was still going on as I walked away. The lasting image I have is her stockinged feet trying to escape his fingers.
