I'm thinking about writing to the President.

I want to write to President Obama and complain about a few
things. Each time I email him at the White House, I get an
automated generic response. Should I bother to continue my
feeble attempts at contact? He's obligated to care about my
well-being, as my President. He took on that responsibility. I
want what I feel he owes me, damnit! I'm sure nobody here
will really understand where I'm coming from, but I wanted to
post anyway. :smokingiscool:

You can write to him but I doubt you will ever get any other response other than what his staff sends you...

He is too busy these days touring CT and other states trying to drum up support for the dems that will be voted out of office in November...even sent Bill Clinton and now his wife here for that....

Desperate times for desperate politicians...

Oh and then there's that war thing he dabbles in when he isnt out rallying for the cause...

Generally speaking, if you want to get the president's attention (regardless of who is in office), you need lots of money.

Governing is a rich man or woman's game. The rest of us are just cogs in a very large wheel.

Are you suggesting I develop realistic expectations?

60 seconds per minute x 60 minutes per hour x 24 hours per day x 365.25 days per year x 4 years per term = 126,230,400 seconds in his four year term...

...divided by the current United States population of 307,006,550 entitles you to...

...less than half a second of his time (0.411165 seconds) in his first term (providing, of course, that he doesn't bother to sleep for those four years. If he does, please reduce the amount of your entitlement by 1/3).

The good news? You double the amount of available time he has to address your personal issues if you re-elect him. 😀 :yayzorz:

Write him an actual letter. He personally reads 10 of them a day from constituents. Odds are good it will still just wind up with a staff member, but you never know.

I've written him a couple of times and I always get responses from staff, not from him, but my letters are usually just in the vein of "I've got your back dude!" so he doesn't really need to see them anyway

Just be aware it takes a long time to get through because of the security checks.

Alternately, perhaps start a blog and start publicizing your views? Might get out there into the media at some point. You never know. 🙂

"This forum requires that you wait 60 seconds between posts. Please try again in 13 seconds." Damn it.

While I am disappointed at the general lack of results (and, yes, certain disappointing "well, f---'s") inherent in President Obama's first two years, there is a key point to make which many people seem to be completely missing.

Obama was handed an office that had previously, and most recently, been occupied by two bushes and a man from Arkansas, spanning more than 20 years between the three of them.

Exactly how miraculous did you expect his job performance to be?

As the old saying goes, it's always easier to run a country into the ground than it is to pull it out of a ditch with no assistance from a group of people who are too busy quarreling over their place on the rope to actually spend any time pulling.

Pull it out of a ditch...His average unemployment rate is constantly more then 2 points higher then Bush's highest, with a Democrat Congress to boot and because of failed bailouts his deficit will easily be 2x or 3x higher then Bush's. Bush's average unemployment rate was either slightly under or slightly over5%.

Presidents always take things at wider scope - sort of Machiavellian. They will not deal with any person individually.

at lest you get the automated generic response.
its gettin better in that way!

I wanna email Obama and complain about people that can't attend gatherings but they always post: "Sorry, can't make it......but have fun!"

I really doubt you'll get a response that isn't automated or isn't written by someone else with the stamp of the president's signature on it. I don't know what your complaints are, but you probably have a better chance of a real response writing your local senator or something.

It's averaged around 5% because of what he inherited. Look what he left you with. The steepest jump in recent history. That takes some time for the next guy to flatten out, which it HAS done, and HAS been decreasing since it's peaked.

You should definitely compose your letter while drunk. It's certainly helping with these threads you keep starting.

If i wrote to the president what i want to say, id have the secret service paying me a visit in a heartbeat!
