Ralph Nader just announced the start of a petition to impeach George
W. Bush.

Poor Ralph - He's probably the greatest example of a man over qualified for a job!

Does he have a job other than to help defeat the Democrats by entering an election he could never possibly win?

Just curious.😉

You say that as though it's an ACCIDENT... He's a political WEAPON that they're using to do exactly that. Everybody KNOWS he stands NO chance of winning, he's just to take votes away from the other side. Same as any third party candidate who stands for change for the better. That's a threat to them.

Which is why he should withdraw. If he really CARES about change, then he should not ruin the election for those who think they have a chance to win. It would be an interesting election without his candidacy this time around.

Problem is that (in my opinion) he doesnt really care. He will get his name in the news. He will be interviewed. He will write another book and make a lot of money.

And we will all sit by and watch him......

Ray

And it's that complacency which has gotten things this bad. We're just burying our heads in the sand and letting it happen. Of course, anyone REALLY for change is elminated somehow. Of COURSE he doesn't care. He's IN ON IT. Eventually, we'll be weaned away from all our freedoms and they won't have to maintain the illusion of democracy anymore.

HI, Venray,

As far as the current "only game in town" rules apply,

perhaps not...

But when it comes to an american who is sincere, hard working
and probably has more classroom of life time in the studies of protecting and florishing our United States than any five polititians,

Than I'd say he has purpose.

He's closer to a George Washington than any one else running,
I believe...

I admired him in my youth as a defender and protector of the people over corporate America, but I fear Dan is correct when he says " He is in on it"

He's a spoiler and he knows it, and those who vote for him vote against change of any kind. He is doing this because he knows he can get tons of free publicity and bring in more dough. Nothing more I am afraid.

He had a purpose once, but I am afraid he has other priorities now.

🙁

Anything is possible... My mother thinks perhaps he's just older and
has the tunnel vision.

I do believe that the two party system will basically continue
to do a few good things and a whole lot of mediocre or terrible
things...

I also believe real change would be to clean house on the senate
and house of reps!! As long as I'm talking crapshoots!

Can I get an AMEN!?!? We've all got a better chance of being struck by lightning than that happening. The only change on that scale that's going to occur will be under armed revolt, and they're trying daily to wean you away from your Constitutional right to do just that. Why IS that, I wonder? Maybe because they know it's inevitable, with the way they run business as usual and have no intention of stopping? Nahhhhhhhhhhh... not in AMERICA......

short of ducttaping him to his seat so he can't go and get his name put on a petition for the green party or whichever one he chooses to run in...what can we do about him?

We can ignore him. We can stop buying his books. We can change the channel when he is being interviewed. We can spread the world that a vote for him is like a vote for Ross Perot...🙄

Nader isn't nearly as popular as Perot was. At one point, Perot got up to 15% of most polls. I can't even remember how many votes he got in the actual '92 election, but I do remember that it was a lot more than Nader got in 2000. This Third Party phenomenon comes and goes, and the only way the Greens would actually become more significant is if, say, the Democratic Party totally fell apart. The Greens would take up the power vacuum the same way that Republicans took up the power vacuum that the Whig Party left behind. Besides, Nader is (so far) still an independent candidate this time around. This means that the only way he could actually appear on ballots is if each state had thousands of petitioners toward this cause. This might happen in some of the larger states but not in most states. Therefore, the only way he could have a significant effect on the outcome of this election is if millions of voters wrote him in as their choice. I could be wrong, but I don't think this has ever happened in the history of American presidential elections. I know the Libertarians and the Greens have gotten millions of votes through write-ins in the past, but I don't think any Independent presidential candidates ever have.

oh... LOW BLOW !!!

BTW.. Florida is up for sale... any buyers ? oh please please ??

great price ...

Excuse me, people, but the third party system can work, and one day it will lead into the White House. Remember Jesse Ventura? a third party member who won the governor's seat. If he can do that, one day it can happen with the Presidency. People are starting to get tired of the two party system, yielding no results than can help the American public:sowrong:

Nader killed Gore in the last election!!! Like Perot killed Senior Bush vs Clinton...
I think Perot had a real chance if he hadn't left the race and then rejoined...but alas he did...

This election will be VERY interesting to say the least!!!

While I'd like to believe that our system could support a coalition party style government, history doesn't seem to support this idea. Our country has been a two-party system for so long that I really doubt that it will ever evolve past two parties. If you look at governments that have coalition parties (more than two parties) or even Canada (which has 4 main parties and is sort of like a coalition style government), the history behind their governments are dramatically different from ours. We basically just have a history of 2 parties being in power with the occasional fall of one party (which gets consumed by a former third party). There just doesn't seem to be enough political leeway for a three or more parties to really draw in votes. However, this would be a feasible idea if we had Instant Runoff Voting.

I didnt vote in 2000. Before that I was too young to vote. Anyways I plan on voting for bush. I dont really like politics. Anyways tactillianlover Im Psycho glad to meat you. With all these political discussions your looking like the next Big Jim.

Gee, Psycho, I'm really surprised to hear this from you.

Maybe you haven't heard that John Kerry is on record voicing mild support for legalizing medicinal marijuana and for the removal of criminal penalties for the possession of marijuana for personal use.

Hello, ALL!

The worst dialog is no dialog - Thank you for opinin'in!

Some random...

What if Nader , at this point, Is simply bent on Impeachement,
Presidency be damned?

You can't see behind all of the smoke and mirrors, all of the time.
It's hard to change a system, harder a person. If you want a
good apple, don't go to the barrel, go to the tree. Jesse Ventura
was a step in the right direction.

I imagine a community college type class(perhaps there is one)
where advanced students of government practice federal legislative exercises with only current, actual bill proposals. They work it
as independents (you know, the U.S. of A. party) and they compare
the classroom solutions to the real ones. Also , if mock votes
are drawn prior to our legal counterpart's session results, the
real legislators can be notified of said conclusions - In a high
profile fashion. All school papers would likely run a column.

An evolution of potential experts...lots of em'!

:wow:

Well, I think by now we've figured out that Congress is more interested in impeaching Presidents that lie about their sex lives than ones that lie about Weapons of Mass Destruction, national security, the environment, tax cuts, and past military service. I mean, what could be worse than lying about who you've been unfaithful with? Doesn't everyone understand that a President's personal sex life is more important than balancing the budget or keeping our international allies? I suppose by now, it's quite obvious that the Republican party serves as a very moral judge of character when you consider how they've lessened environmental restrictions, given tax cuts to the rich, and entered wars solely for oil.

This message brought to you by the Fox News Channel....

Their eyes glaze over with boredom at the thought of taking on all that - talking about sex is so much more fun, even if they did have to remember to keep their faces all squinched up with disapproval.
