Interest in a Video Chat Room for us TMF users? (Mods and owners read)

I've brought this topic up on one other occasion.

There is a program at www.camfrog.com which uses web cam technology. Basically, you go into a room, and you can see anybody who has a cam, and anybody could see you. It also has voice support.



The server costs could be up to 150 a month, plus the one time fee, plus the Camfrog server package itself. I'm not asking anybody to help donate or anything, I'm just asking how many would be interested.


People from HERE would be allowed in without having a cam, but random perverts in general will not, thus guaranteeing safety for females and males alike.


If y'all are interested, please post a reply and tell me so. Depending on how many people I get, I may just start something up for us.


Further more, moderators or admins on here get put on the staff list as a moderator and possibly owner of the room there. So Jeff, Myriads, I know you got a chat here, how about a cam alternative room?

The room would be provided by a different hosting company, one which I am still in search of.

If you mean Camfrog itself is not secure for whatever reason, scrap the idea, and I will stop using the program myself as I was not aware of this.

It lacks the security to provide chat members with what I consider the needed protections for a decent experience.

Also anyone with a webcam and a Yahoo acount can broadcast themselves to another. And many room users do this now. Paying $1800 a year for video ability is not a good cost/use ratio in our eyes.

I like the idea. I've been on camfrog before though and it is quite a joke and chock full of idiots and perverts. We used to have a backup yahoo chat room here. I can't remember if it had cam support or not. I think if it was something only accessible from TMF and required a valid TMF login it would be fairly safe.

That gives me a good idea. If I buy the full server program from Camfrog itself, I CAN INDEED PUT A PASSWORD ON THE ROOM!


If Myriads or a Mod would be willing, and of course if enough were interested, they could make a sub forum for video chat. The room password would be in there, and anybody without it will not be let in the room by the program.

On top of that, hopefully somebody takes over modding duty for when I'm at work/bed. Safe chat for all! Maybe this idea still has a little left in it after all.

The mods don't necessarily have to approve it. Of course a sub forum in the chat section would help get people in more than a thread would.

I'm just looking to do it for the community if enough are interested.

Yes, and I apologize for not making the clearer. IF there are enough people willing to join and participate in this video/audio chat room, then yes, I will cover all the hosting costs.

All I need are some people, I'll handle the bills. Getting a sub forum (chat sub forum that is) with a link to the program and an FAQ that I can write up would be wonderful.

I'll PM or post here when there are enough people, if there ever is. So far, there's only one.
