Guys, what do you expect? Scientology is bullshit, and as someone else mentioned earlier, this is probably a combination of Hayes being a hypocrite AND his own church breathing down his neck.

Why these otherwise successful people (Cruise, Travolta, etc.) can't figure out that it's a ridiculous cult is beyond me....

Granted, it's probably similar to how fundamentalists of any other religion can't wake up either....

How did a person who wrote such great science fiction become someone who wrote about such a messed up religion? That's it, when I turn 70, I'm starting my own cult.

It probably has something to do with how he is quoted as saying words to the effect of "I want to move into religion, because thats where the money is these days."

And its bad science fiction 😛

This business doesn't surprised me in the slightest, I thought the eppisode was one of the greatest I've ever seen... but I was expecting something to happen pretty soon after the eppisode ended. I didn't know Hayes was a Scientologist... so I was expecting them to have some sort of legal action aimed at them... because, as the ending of the show suggested, the cult has a great history of suing anyone that bad mouths them and then regardless of who's in the right, the Scientologists generally win because they just have to wait for you to run out of money (cause they won't). This probably has something to do with why all the credits were 'John Smith'

Btw, most of what they said about Scientology was correct, they got a few details wrong... but the history of the world story was pretty much spot on.
