Is your ''online personality'' different from your ''real life personality''?

Oh yes. I'm definitely much more shy in person than I am online. Not that I'm a different person online, just a lot more outgoing. It's still the same me. :bunny:

There is a difference

In person I'm a LOT more outrageous than I am online.
Online I have the chance to think things out, edit, and modify my basic outgareousness.
In person I tend to shoot from the lip, and the puns and quips flow in aneverending spate. :atom: :atom: :atom:
When I was quiet for a few minutes at a gethering one evening, one friend said I was pausing to sharpen my tongue. :woot:
In person my humor is a little nasty, and runs heavily to sarcasm and irony. :bat:
But never directed against friends. :wavingguy
Oh yeah, one more thing; I'M NUTS! :bouncybou :bouncybou :bouncybou

Nope!!! My personality is the same regardless. I speak ONLY the truth out here as well as in my real life. Some people find that the truth is offensive. But it is my personality. So if you want truth then talk to me. You want fluff, you have about 35,000 other personalities who will sugarcoat things for you. I will not sugarcoat squat for anyone and that includes Sadira and my son. The old say the truth shall set you free is what I live by... and I will also die by.

I'm a quieter person offline (though not by much). It depends on who i'm talking to. I'm a lot less shy online though.

I do believe my online and offline personalities are slowly merging together though...

We're all complex creatures.

See Bruce Banner. Hate that temper, and normally contain it, but it's there.
Have always seemed shy or quiet, ironically, used to be more so, and sometimes still am, though usually quite friendly

---unless really provoked, usually when witnessing bullying,
in which case I've always been just as loud and direct in person,
regardless of age.

I am less likely to chat to strangers about well... anything. I also am polite online but in real life I am really evil and plan to dominate the world :evilha: ..........wait forget you read that last part. :xpeepsofa

On here, I basically act how I am when in a bad mood most of the time. That is to say, how I would act if I could put my thoughts into words while offline. I think just as I talk on here, but offline I lack the ability to eloquently deliver on those thoughts, so I usually keep quiet.

So you can say my online persona is the 'dark side' of me for the most part, I suppose.

It's definitely easier to open up to people online. I don't feel much of a need to open up to anyone lately, nor can I think of anyone that deserves to know any personal information about me aside from basic crap.

I have read that really shy people tend to open up online because there is no true ''eye contact'' when conversing via chatrooms, forums , etc.

Mine is exactly the same. I stay true to myself. Some people may not like me here for the way I am but I keep it real so to speak. But I do believe most are not like that and do hide behind their computer. Kind of like Jekyl & Hyde. Shy in person but brave and outgoing on-line. However, for those that know me, know I am who I am and that's all that I am.

Damn these revealing questions...

I'm actually a tall, painfully shy white man :xpeepsofa .

i am the same here as i am in the "real world" . same likes, dislikes, opinions, skepticisms, optimisms, etc. ........... the TMF is a pretty civil place most of the time,so ive never felt the need to be anyone but myself

AHA! I KNEW IT!!!

One thing that is different about me online is my sense of humor. I tend to be more severe in the real world. The humor you see here is what I used to illustrate in the past. When sitting around with people I'm comfortable with, I tend to open up a lot more, and the humor you see here comes out to play. It also happens when I'm drunk. :jester:

In all honesty, if I were to show up at a NEST, you'd never guess it was me. Chances are that I'd just sit in a corner and stare at everybody while trying to get a handle on all the pandemonium around me.

My humor used to get the better of me. It would get to the point that there were days that I'd never take anything seriously. I had to stop it.

I like goofing off online. It is generally great fun. I also feel comfortable doing it online because when I log off, all the goofiness stays on the net. I can go back to my serious side. A comical version of blowing off steam, if you will.

It drives me crazy too. but in a good way! :twohugs:

Nope, except of course that this is writing and I try to be grammatically correct, as is not always achieved in real-life speaking.

To quote my favorite serviceman, "I Yam what I Yam". Cross Ferris Beuller, Chuck Woolery, and John "Bluto" Blutarski.....and you get me :imouttahe

I'm the same in person as you see here....what you see is what you get (for better or worse 😀

Yes and no!!!!! Overall I would say that I'm different on line than in real life!!!!

I think I am the same where-ever I am. Not sure if that is good or bad? :bowing:

Not really. Online I'm just another voice, one more opinion-spouter amidst a sea of spouted opinions.

In real life I am Mike Tyson.

I'm a bit more guarded in person until I warm up to you, and I think nowhere is this difference more evident than in a group in chat versus in a group in RL... In chat, I like to connect with a bunch of folks, talk to everyone, crack the occasional joke, etc... But in RL, I mostly clam up in group settings, unless, again, I know all those convened very well and feel very comfortable.
