It was really cool to Stumble upon Renaissance Fair in progress at local "olde towne"
Spontaneously decided to take the kids to a local "olde towne" this afternoon. During the nicer months, weekends ususally play host to various events such as car shows, Irish or German festivals, carnivals, craft fairs and the like. This was the first time that I am aware of that there was a Renaissance Fair in the fairgrounds. I had no idea that it was going on so it was a pleasant surprise.
Crossing the walk-bridge, a young wench was crouched down with a fistfull of long feathers. As we proceeded by her, she called out: "Free tickles! Anyone? Tickle, tickle, tickle..."
Unfortunately, my ex-mother in law was in our company, and she knows about how I am. She is one of those who is against any kind of tickling whatsoever. (yeah she sucks and is no fun) Besides, the kids were there too but I would have allowed them to interact with the girl if they showed any interest. I just wanted one of the feathers she was handing out- It was one of those that works well and are hard to locate anywhere. Unfortunately I looked the other way as well. I should learn to stop being somebody that isn't me and just be myself. Guaranteed had I been alone or with preferred company I would have spent the day hanging around, but in that regard I should have been at NEST this weekend anyway.
Alas, there will be other opportunities at some point. Another chance for fun missed just because of being around the wrong people at the wrong time.
