I called no one a redneck! That is stereotypical at its absolute worst. Not everyone fits any specific mold. I've had problems dating men from the south. That does NOT mean that every southern man behaves the same. I wish I met and dated some of you, then maybe my opinion would be different. As for now, my opinion is just that, my opinion. I will not back away from it or water it down. I will say it is not a blanket statement meant to qualify all southern guys. I NEVER meant it to be that way!

I really hope this clears things up. If not, I apologize and we'll just have to agree to disagree. I really did not mean to offend, but I am entitled to my opinion just like anyone else.

The plnt in Newport is my plant They started having a high leak rate into thir containment, indicating some sort of leak from a pipe connected to the reactor. Over a minute period the lakrate tripled. Above a certain leak rate we are required to shutdown but they correctly did not wait till we got there. The Shift that was on decided to insert a fast shutdown signal. The reactor shutdown in 3 seconds. It'll be tomorrow before someone will be abl to see exactly what caused the leak. That's because we inert the containment with nitrogen in order to prevent fires, it takes a bit of time to get the nitrogen out, and of course we want to make sure there's no steam prior to getting someone in there. I still wok there the next 3 weeks. I'll get home from Tennessee tomorrow afternoon, and most likely be the first person in the containment.

While this isn't good, it does show there are lot's of built in contingencies and why they train the fuck out of us.

I lived in the South for four years, and it was not for me. Don't get me wrong there are a lot of nice people down there and some bad as well. My main problem is that everything moves so slow. I was bored. That and I also had some problems with Law Enforcement in the south. The justice there isn't the same. I'll leave it at that.

On the subject of property value...

...Tron is telling the truth. Whether he is a badass or not, I dont know 😉 but property value drops the further south you go (excluding coastal property and the state of Florida). I live in VA, and I have a 4 bedroom home with an attached garage. It is approximately 2200 sq. feet, and it sits on a square acre (not too big of a plot). Me and Mrs. Jerx paid 176,000 for it. The area around us has grown pretty quickly and we could probably sell it for a little over 200,000 now, but Tron is relatively speaking the truth.

Housing prices have increased sonsiderably in parts of Virginia since pre 9/11/2001.

In 2000 I was going to buy a house just outside of Fredericksburg. I believe it was for about 100K or so. In the end I decided against it. Late last year I almost took a job at the North Anna Power Station near Mineral Virginia. Since it was near F Burg I figured I'd check out a house in the same general area. Housing was now avour 200K again for a 2500 to 300 Square Foot House, but with little land.

Still not bad, but the reason it went up so much was all the idiots who moved from DC after 9/11.

Virginia has no state tax, but if I recall correctly it has personal property tax.

Areas like the US Southeast tend to have cheap housing with lots of property, plus my electricity rate is 40% of what I pay here, and gas rates are a lot cheaper.

I've always liked Southern people, especially those I was in the military with. They were friendly to a fault, loved a wild time, and would do just about anything for you.

Tennessee is nice, it has mountains and great scenery. I'm sick of seeing nothing but flat 🙁
