At last! After months, and months of phone calls, official papers, lawyers, social workers, and a very anxious buisiness office, my medicaid approval came through today! Huzzah! (Does happy dance).
Do you know what they made me do?
I had to get them my bank statements, tax returns, and all my checking account activity for the LAST THREE YEARS!!!!!! I can hardly remember what I had for lunch last week, let alone every check I'd written in three years! Having the house in my name, and on the market didn't help any. Then. one day, while drowning in an ocean of red tape, I noticed my social security checks were no longer going into my checking account. A glimmer of hope? (Nursing homes run on funds supplied by medicare and medicaid, and they like you to have both!), but, with all the times I'd refinanced the house, and spending that money on the house, bills, food, etc,, And me, having to come up with vericfication of all of it, it seemed to much to hope for. Then today, the lady who works in the business office came to my room, saying "Congatulations! You have midicaid!" I replied "Get away!", but it was true. They take the money from my benefits, allot me 50$ a month, and the rest goes for room and board. So, I'm in like Flint, and here I'll get to stay.
I'm going to sleep well tonight!
