Jack Black as Green Lantern?

I thought I'd share a rumor with all the comic book fans here Last week I had made a delivery in one of the Chicago suburbs,Hanover Park,and got talking to two of the guys unloading my 53 feet trailer One of them told me he heard Jack Black is supposed to be playing Green Lantern Has anyone else heard this rumor?

I can't see him playing either the Hal Jordon or Kyle Rainer version
Guy Gardner perhaps But he'd have to get a Moe Howard haircut and dye his hair carrot orange

That is the rumor that's flying around. I think they're talking about a more comedic/The Mask style movie. Sounds weird, if you ask me🙄
I am the biggest Guy Gardner fan, but I know in my heart they will ever give him his due in any kind of movie, though they did try with that "Justice League" pilot not too far back.

If they want comedy, why not a Flash movie, based on the Justice League animated series Flash (Wally West) . He's great in JL as a comedic character. Give GL (any one of the) a serious movie.

I'd love to see one based on Kyle as GL..just to see all the crazy things he'll make with his ring. Not that I dislike Hal, but I think that Kyle using his power would look more impressive on the screen

I wish they did a movie about Aquaman. He is the most disrespected superhero out there, and they need to give him his props

I am hearing that DC Comics tried to fight this, but since their parent company is Warner Brothers, and Warner's wants this, they are now sitting back and stewing in the decision. I really wish they didn't do this, but they are the studio that released that cinemtic classic Catwoman, so they must know what they are doing (in a pigs eye).

There was actually a Aquaman movie in the works in the latter 90's with James VanDerbeek to star in it after the success of that one football movie he did. I heard they had a script and were ready to go but it all felll by the wayside.

I would like to see a Justice League movie as well, but I think Warner's wants to establish the Superman and Batman franchise as a whole before that happens.

A Kyle Rayner GL movie would definitely be more marketable, since he's right in that mid-20's demo movie studios cream their pants over. But I agree, I don't think a comedy version of this will work at all. I just can't hear Jack Black bellowing "In brightest day, in blackest night," and making it sound heroic.

What would be really cool (but very difficult to sell to non-comic book fans) would be a movie version of The Brave and The Bold - GL and Flash would be awesome on the big screen.

Save your breath. Movie studio suits could care less about petitions. That's how we wound up with "Catwoman". The best way to deal with bad ideas like this? Don't pay money to see them...that's a mighty stinging lesson they learned from "Catwoman". And besides....

Yeah, but then again, they did stop the travesty that Superman was becoming and hired the right people. There is even the rumor that Dick Donner (superman 1 and Superman 2 original director), Lauren schuler-Donner (producer of both X-Men movies) and Chris Reeve are in talks to produce this. Also bringing in Singer, who loved the first two Reeve movies, although they say is from McG now going on the plane, the article I read in the New York times states that they wanted someone who would go the route of the first two Reeve movies from all the complaints the McG version was getting. So you may never know. The petition may stop them. They have time to payse now since Catwoman is doing so bad in the theaters. It cost 100 mill and will probably only gross 30 if they are lucky.

Newsarama says that, according to this week's Entertainment Weekly, the rumors of actor Jack Black starring as Green Lantern, were just that – rumors.

"I took a meeting with someone who has the rights, but there's no [Green Lantern] script," Black told EW. "I'd be interested if there was a really good writer attached, but it's far from a [done deal]."

Too bad Mattel f***ed up the 2002 He-Man series so badly..they coulda done a Superman movie where he fights He-Man..just like in a comic book where Skeletor forced Supes to fight He-Man (I don't remember which one it was, but I think they show it somewhere on he-man.org )

One thing I hate is that they cut off any connection to him related to Earth...some thought him being half Earthling --the one thing that allowed him and his sister, Adora to gain the power of Grayskull-- was too cheesy. So instead , he gets his power from some ancestor named King Grayskull (now, they did manage to make the Horde..especially Horak, really dangerous and not some dumb, snorting idiot. )

Man..could you imagine a fight between Superman and the 2002 version of He-Man? If a JL/MOTU crossover movie wouldn't get kids into MOTU, I doubt anything would.

unless the studios invloved plan on putting jack black through a crapload of workouts, it wouldn't work. i would rather see (can't belive i'm sayin' it) george clooney as a hal jordan gl, or chris klein (american pie movies) as a kyle rainer gl.
