John Madden passed away Tuesday at 85. According to sources, it was unexpected, but WOW, what a legacy he has left!
The Madden special chronicling his life aired just four days ago on Christmas Day.
Here are some of his on field accomplishments: He is a Hall of Fame coach, won a Super Bowl, is the Raiders all time winning coach, and has the highest winning percentage of any NFL coach, 0.759, that's 3 games won out of every 4 games!!
Talk about a legacy, I am old enough to remember him as a coach, he started coaching the year I was born (1969) and coached for 10 years. Then he got into broadcasting, where my kids know his name, and the first Madden video game came out in 1988 and the EA Madden Football series started in 1992 and is still going strong, where grandkids of people my age know him. That's 50 years and THREE GENERATIONS where his name and likeness had been known. What a legacy!
RIP, coach, you may be gone, but your legacy will live for a very, very long time!
