Looks...

Freakin' Sweeet!!!

Judging, of course only from what I've seen, ROTS looks to completely make up for AOTC.

And we finally get to see the Emperor with his badd-ass lightsaber...cool! 😎

I told you, I told you all Palpatine would have to end up proving what a Sith Master he is. I haven't seen the trailer yet, but at least my single wish has come true- Palpatine actually fighting with a lightsaber! SWEET! ^___________^

Happens to be a great star wars fun!

Saw the trailler too! I went to a dinner with my two closests friends and we spent a great time speaking about the trailler and all the expectations.

The trailler looks really great! There´s no doubt this will be the darkest one in the whole saga, even darker than ESB I believe! Despite all the new episodes seem to be a bit light in face of the old ones....you know....rush the action, show them more lasers, more robots, more great scenarios.

I´m still afraid this movie will suffer from the same problems, but I´ve no doubt it´ll be a hell of a movie!

this brings me to another thing. Now that we´re starting to see the all 6 episodes pictures, I start to think on the old movies and look at the actions of everyone, specially Vader, in a new light.

BIG SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!! DON`T READ FURTHER!!!!!! DAVE, EDIT THIS IF YOU FEEL NEEDED

Now that we understand Anakin thought Padme had betrayed him at the end, now that we realize he thought everyone who used to be close were now against him, against his power and arrising in the new empire....cause that seems to be what he´s thinking. Palpatine his fooling him and he feels the Jedis are trully wrong and so his friend Obi Wan and Padme should stay with him. First he doesn´t know if he can trust Obi Wan....he still trusts Padme...but at the end, he can see everyone he loved turning against what he thinks he´s achieving.
Well....take this...and look into ANH...the moment he get´s to see Obi Wan again....and his soon!He just doesn´t knoe yet who the kid his but he must be thinking....."GOOD!!! Finally I can kill this old traitor and show those insignificant fellows of him how powerfull I am"
The duel bettween them as many have said, is pretty much one of wills! An elegant fight bettween two masters who are just seing what the other is still able to do. They make a few strikes, a few defenses and in the silense Vader is mentally screaming: "I´m still stronger Obi Wan, and now I´m a true master, I won´t make any mistakes, how do you want to dye?"
The bad guy is just playing with Obi Wan when luke and the others show up and then it´s the big choice for Obi Wan. He knows if he keeps fighting, luke might want to join him and he´s still not ready for it, they might just all get caught by imperials and he´ll dye the same way cause he can´t run from Vader. So he chooses suicide! He can´t win Vader, he can´t run, he´ll dye anyway, so better to dye fast and maybe luke and the others will understand they need to run and hide to fight hard another day.
Then, when the rebels fight back from Yavin and Vader ends up on the loosing side.....imagine how he must feel!!!! He´s the stronghest jedi in the galaxy....only the emperor stands above him! And some MORONS made him look like a school boy.....remember Anakin, his caracter and think how in rage he must have got at the end of ANH beggining of ESB. From then on he must be on a mission to show those crazy morons he was THE BEST around and they´ll pay for challenging him!
Even when he starts realizzing the identity of the young Yavin hero...even then he´s still in rage. Keep in mind he´s still thinking the alliance is the side of the liars and traitors, he must blame Obi wan as much as himself for Padme´s death, because they could not see his truth! He must be thinking his kid was raised and thought by Obi Wan and like Padme at the end, the kid is also on the wrong side betraying him full of those Jedi lyes.
But still...at Bespin, he arranges things so that he can see his son alone!!!!! and this is important! As much as he never really wanted to kill Padme, he doesn´t really wants to kill his soon. He´s eager to face the kid and see how he is. It´s true he´s willing to freeze the kid but then again....if the kid is going to be dumb enough to get stuck in the freezer, maybe he´ll be safer there for a long time!
And during Vader and Luke´s fight....things start to change completely!!!!!! And they start from the begining!! one can ear Vader stating twice about his son "IMPRESSIVE" "MOST IMPRESSIVE"....the guy starts to become proud of the kid! He must be remembering how he was himself when he was all human and also a young boy like luke. From then on, Vader wont kill Luke for nothing! He trully likes him even if he can´t admit it fully yet! But it´s pretty obvious during the rest of the fight that Vader wont move for the kill, he plays with luke, beats him, show´s him his full array of powers like moving things and all that....but never kills the kid!True he cut´s the kid´s hand but remember, Anakin is a warrior, he was injured himself at looks age and besydes....the kid refused to stop the fight and listen to him so big daddy needs to show him his place and calm him down a bit....so he cuts his light sabre from him taking the hand in the process...but just the hand!

well....I´m telling things everyone already knows....maybe you should delete all this 😉 lolol got carried away!!!! 😛 it´s getting late and if anyone will want to chat a bit about star wars feel free to give me a call 😉

Sory for taking so much of your time! I just sometimes feel Vader is getting so much mis interpretations.....maybe myself I´m one of them, who knows 🙂

Well.....the trailler of ROTS is defenetelly great...that was afterall the point of the thread! 😉

I saw the trailer tonight, and I thought it was amazing. I am so looking forward to the movie. The scenes from Episode III are amazing, and it made me want to see the movie even more!

DAMN!!!! i cant WAIT to see this freakin movie!!! alas, it's ONLY 6.5 months away.....

I really hate to interupt the celebrations, but...

This movie is probably going to be crap! :sowrong:

I'm hoping that I'm going to be proven wrong, as the trailer is awesome! But I was let down heavily by Episode 1 (especially after the awesome trailer for it), I was let down AGAIN in Episode 2 and I have a feeling that I will be let down for the final time in Episode 3 🙁

Hmmmm, it was okay....don't think it'll be as great as "Van Helsing" though......:jester:

The Sean Man

I honestly think Lucas will deliver the goods this time... judging on the trailer and script spoilers I've read alone, it should prove to be at the very least the most intense and satisfying of the three prequals. One can only hope

Ok, so the link you provided Buggs no longer has the trailer it would seem.

Does anyone know if it will air any other time this week on regular local channels like 2, 4, 5, 7, 9, 11 and 13? Those are my local channels, and I live in California, so that would be Pacfic Time for me. Or maybe theres another website that is allowed to have the trailer for an extended period of time? It certainly wasn't up for two weeks, was it?

I got the chance to watch the trailer on the channel 9 news, it was going to be shown later during entertainment, but about less than halfway through the news, they started covering a live car pursuit and it lasted the rest of the hour so I never got to see the trailer. And I don't want to go see a movie at the theaters just to see it!😡

What is with these stupid car pursuits? What good does covering them ever do anyone? They talk and talk endlessly about whats just common sense for an hour or more! "Well Dave, do you think he's going to take a left turn into that residential area?"

WTF is that?! Of course he is, and who gives a damn if they don't live anywhere near there?!

"Now, lets go over police tactics in these situations."

No, don't! Its irritating. They go over the same damn strategies over and over and explain it to us like we're some kind of deviants!

"Well Pat, they may use a spike strip or the pit maneuver.."

I don't give a shit!!! Just hurry up and catch the stupid bastard whose keeping me from watching worthwhile tv! LOL 😛

You know what technology really needs to be invented? The ability to choose whether or not you want to continue watching a program, or cut to late-breaking news and the only time you don't have a choice is if its a serious matter or update.

From there, they should have different people covering the stories instead of the lead news casters so that the show can go on and if you want and theres someone else covering the car chases and all that other stupid crap.

The same is true for those all so annoying "we interupt this regularily sheduled program."

Oh no you don't, I was watching that!!! 😛

do a google search, I was able to download the trailer in quicktime format yesterday 😉 It will be available publicly on the starwars website Nov. 8, that I do know 😀

From what I've heard from my sources (who shall remain nameless 😀), this film will rank up with the original trilogy.

For all of those who doubt this, using the other prequel films as comparison, I say....lighten up and enjoy the damn movie!!! 😀

Ok, I didn't think AOTC was the greatest Star Wars film either, but it was still a Star Wars film and therefore still rocked! Perhaps if we all stopped trying to play movie critic and just enjoyed the story for what it's worth, we'd all have a better time.

From what I've seen so far, this is going to rank up there with ESB. I certainly hope so. 😎

You know, I saw the star wars 2 trailer, and I thought it was going to be great. I ended up bored and uninterested, but the fight schenes were ok. I'm reserving judgement until I the movie comes out.

You're right there. Trailers can be misleading at times. 😎

Yeah, look at Alien VS. Predator. The trailer for that was pretty misleading if you ask me. They made it out to be this huge fight, this war, and they used flashback images to make us believe it was grander than it really was. It was more like a hunt, not a war, and they specifically used the word "war" several times, so...you know.

I find your lack of faith disturbing.... 😉

Whose? Dave's or someone else's? Surely you're not speaking to me, right? 😛

I saw it when I went to see "The Incredibles". I thought the trailer was really great. Just a bit too short. Hence 'a teaser'.

Of course it was short. They have to have something to grab you by the balls (or female equivelent) to keep your interest peaked. LOL 😀

I still haven't seen it though. I haven't had the time to download it yet. And if course no one likes getting disconnecting during the download and then having to start all over again. How frustrating!

No matter though, as usually download managers can start back up where they left off, provided the download allows it instead of only "save target as".

lol, I was joking ofcourse 😉 😛 This trailer certainly gets a SW fan excited, but ofcourse we'll have to wait and see if the movie itself delivers. I really do think it will this time - the plot is dark, the premise of the film is dark and I do believe this one will rival ESB for intensity. Damn, I wish it were May! 😀

The trailer really is a must see, Celtic.

I have no doubt it will deliver. Even actor commentaries/interviews have them saying they were much more physically active in this one than in any other.

I saw the trailer an hour ago after download. It looks really promising. I see Palpatine is already beginning his transformation/deformation, whatever you want to call it. I thought maybe he was burned or something, but I'm more inclined to believe what started/excelled this transformation is the ammount of Force he's generating in this movie, and the ammount he's unleashing. Being so powerful in the Force probably would physically alter a person. And since this is not a positive use of the Force, it's changing his appearance.

I think the transformation started after TPM, because he looked just fine for a man his age then, and his skin wasn't so pale. In AOTC he's clearly looking more like the Palpatine we know, and now in this trailer, his eyes have changed and now he looks like a younger version of the Palpatine we know from the OT.

Palpatine's lightsaber really is cool as Dave says, with those spike looking blades on it. The only thing I think didn't look well with his presentation in the trailer was that his cloak/hood appears to be brown or tan as opposed to black. I think black would have been much more appropriate. First off, its more evil, and second, it gives us a strong image and reminds us immediately of his older self in ROTJ, wearing black.

This is a curious choice of color, because IF Darth Sidious and Emperor Palpatine are the same person, then why does Sidious wear black and Palpatine wear brown? Or maybe he IS wearing black and only the hood portion is brown? I guess it really doesn't matter, but its a nuance I would have liked better if it was black. Although it does work the way it is regardless.

From what I've heard, Anakin becomes Darth Vader before he actually dawns the suit... judging by the clips of his duel with Obi Wan, I'd have to agree. Both Anakin and the Emperor look fierce  What do you make of Anakin's red/yellow eyes? Much like Darth Maul, interesting.

That might have been just purely for effect, since Anakin's eyes always remained blue up to the very end. If anything, it's probably to reflect the hatred and evil, something we haven't yet actually seen as a physical manefestation in Anakin Skywalker.

Palpatine is explainable, its the dark side of the Force, but Anakin with burning Darth Maul-like eyes, thats interesting if it actually serves a purpose in the movie.

As for Anakin becoming a darth before he actually falls into the pit and is burned, that seems like whats logically sound. Afterall, he would need a reason to be there, and to be fighting to the death with his former master. So if Anakin isn't already a darth beforehand, he's most definitely already betrayed the Jedi Order and has sided completely with Sidious/Palpatine.

It seems to me this is the way its going to play out-

Something really bad happens that causes Anakin to lose it (unlike some others, I doubt it's Padme's death).

Its at this point that Palpatine helps Anakin and comforts him in addition to all the poisoning of his mind he's already done with what ammounts to practically being a brainwashing thus far through his life.

Obi-Wan and Anakin fight, Anakin loses and is nearly killed in the pit, and is left for dead or assumed dead.

Darth Sidious rescues Anakin from the pit, fixes him up with the suit and breathing system, and then Sidious reveals that he is in fact Palpatine, the very one who believed in Anakin, nutured Anakin, and gave council to Anakin. Obviously at this point Anakin joins Palpatine completely and the rest of the movie plays itself out.

Quite frankily, in addition to Palpatine actually fighting with his lightsaber, I'm really looking forward to Darth Sidious revealing his true identity. Just the removing of his hood alone and seeing Palpatine's face (preferable before the deformation) is going to be really good (preferably in slow motion so we can really take it in and perhaps with some daunting music in the background like was present in ROTJ in the Palpatine scenes). To me, it shows that the cause of virtually everything that has been in the series and will be in the future, the ultimate evil, has finally been unveiled, and it has existed the entire time in the least likely of people. In fact, I think the unveiling of Darth Sidious's true identity is just as momentous as Darth Vader having revealed that he's Luke Skywalker's father, even though we already have a pretty good idea that Sidious is Palpatine.

So I think its very important that they got that right, and of course everything else. 😀

YODA

another day, I was reading some ancient historic quotations in latin, when something came to my mind.
I was trying to understand their translation and suddenly...the way it sounded....sounded like.....YODA!!!!! lol

Creepy????

Take this one from Julio Cesar:
"Alea Jacta est"

in english....if you go word by word...it would be...."Launched the luck is" or...."On it´s way the luck is"

try it with other phrases in latin and tell me what you think.....any chance they were wanting to put YODA speaking in a latin way just to portray him being older?...from an ancient time

Acording to the guy who has seen the first cut (that is if he really saw it) who reported on theforce.net, Anakin does turn into vader before he fights with Obi Wan. He also said that you see Palpatine turn into Siddeous right before your eyes, as a transformation, so I am assuming the eyes is not an effect for the preview and is actually what happens when someone turns to the dark side. We don't know what Anakins eyes looks like in Ep 4and 5 as he has a helmet on. When it is taken off at the end of 6, he has turned back to the good side before it is taken off, so his eyes may have looked like that up until he turned back again. We wont know anything until the thing comes out. But I highly doubt that Lucas would have put that shot in the preview just for effect. YOu don't see anything in the Prequel previews that doesn't show up in the actual film, so I am assuming that it is a shot from the actual film.

This isn't a "teaser" as teasers are previews that don't have anything from the film in it as the film hasn't been shot yet, or is being shot at that time the teaser is released. Teaser's don't have footage from the actual film; but they may have a few shots, and are just slapped together, usually by the studio's advertising department, to advertise the thing and to make audiences are aware that this thing is being shot now and will come out soon. That is why they are called 'teasers' and not previews. Causing they are teasing you by not showing you anything from the film. An example of what teasers are:

Jaws teaser: I think this is actually the first official teaser and that is why this one kind of breaks the rule and has one underwater shot of about 40 people in the ocean. But that is it. Nothing else from the film. This was put out by the studio as the movie went into production before the book that it was based on was released to the public. The book quickly became a New york Times best seller, and Universal wanted to capitolize on the books success and let people know that the movie was being shot now. The underwater shot may be a shot from production, or it may have been something that Spielberg new he was going to do in the film, so he shot it in L.A. before production headed to Marthas Vineyard.

Superman's teaser: Footage shot from a lear jet going through clouds with the actos names shooting into frame as they do in the opening credits, but that is it.

Close Encounters of the Third Kind's teaser: The camera going down the road with the glow at the end. This was a Greg Jein Miniature, and they used footage from it in later previews.

Alien: The Chicken egg on the clay set cracking and light coming out of it. Fox and Scott didn't want to show anything from the film, or the Alien, to add mystery and the previews are shorter cuts of the teaser. You could say that Alien never does have previews, and is only teasers.

Alien 3: Much like the Alien teaser, with an egg, but a different take on it.

Terminator 2: Shots of the terminator on an assembly line being manufactured.

Terminator 3: The liquid metal drops into blackness forming the logo "T" with the 3 cut into it.

Twister: Shots of a dusk sky and other stock storm shots edited together. At the end is the test shot that ILM did to show Warners they could do a CGI twister.

Godzilla 1998: This teaser is the one that takes place in the Museum of history. Nothing in it is in the film, and if you look, even the CGI model of Godzilla is different than it is in the film. That teaser was shot by Emmerich and team (since Emmerich created a EFX company to do Godzilla himself with people from the various companies that did ID4) to see if they could do everything they told Sony they could, and to see how the production team worked.

The Star Wars (A new hope and Empire) are the exceptions as those where released while the film was being made by George Lucas. If you look at the Empire Strikes Back teaser, it does have some shots from the film, but it is mostly production design paintings. What they do have in the teaser is some of the only things they had in the can at the time. It is stil a teaser, but mostly it is production art. A New Hope's preview (called a 'teaser' on the DVD) was mandated by the studio. But if you watch the documentary, Lucas says Fox needed the first preview, and they didn't have things done, and it had the only shots they could put into it.

The only guy who's previews were teasers was Hitchcock films, like Psycho's preview. It is him walking around the bates motel set, and in the Bates house, describing what will happen in the movie. That is just how Hitch liked his trailers to be. He knew you needed a trailer to advertise a film, but he didn't feel that people should see anything from the film.

So in short, this is a 'Preview' and not a 'Teaser'. Teasers may also have one or two shots from the film, or dialog, but that is about it. I have seen some DVD's calling the first preview 'teasers', and I don't know why that is. In fact some plces they are calling this a teaser, and I don't know why that is either. It is a preview.
