Just saw the Olympic flame!

Traditionally, the Olympic Flame gets carried around the world, and today, it's path led through my hometown Munich. It passed by right outside my window, less that 5 yards away! Last time I saw it was just before the Olympic Games 1972 in Munich.

An amusing sidenote: A former Olympic winner was meant to parachute into our Olympic Stadium as part of the program, but a strong breeze blew him more than half a mile off-course! 😛

I saw it carried into Dodger Stadium (as part of a pre-game ceremony) about two weeks ago. 😀

I saw it in Launceston Tasmania back in the year 2000 for the Sydney games.... unfortunately I also had to sit through the 4 hours of boring and pointless build up to it.... and then to only be able to see a sort of ambient light go through the crowd didn't amuse me much at all.

Actually... If memory serves me correctly, I didn't want to go, had no interest in seeing it, was made to go and it was one of the most pointless nights of my life. Even the parental member of my family that made me go conceeded that it was largely a waste of time... at least the 4 hours part of it.

I wouldn't have gone anywhere to see it, but as they were so kind to carry it by my window, I took a good look at it! 😉

I went to the baseball game not even knowing that such a pregame ceremony was scheduled. My first hint was that they gave little official olympic flags to all of us as we came in. 😀
