Kazaa anyone? How do you let others know you have a file to download?

I have had Kazaa for over a year and in all the time I have had the program, I am still not able to figure out how you get others to search for your stuff in your "My Shared Folder" folder. Whenever I place a file in that folder, it doesn't come up on the search engine and it is inaccessible to everyone. If I download a file from someone else and then it goes into that folder, only then are others are able to download it (only I don't know if they can see it in the search engine or not). I have DSL so is this another firewall issue or what? Does anyone have any information regarding this situation? Thanks to all who can help.
