Today I made my semi annual trip to King of Prussia mall near Philly for a visit with my friend Barney who lives in New York. Twice a year, we meet down there in addition to visiting one another at our homes to save us the hassle of driving the full 150 miles from Lancaster to New York.
I dont know how many forum members have been to King of Prussia, but it is quite simply, the best mall in the world, in my opinion. It has over 300 stores, some of the finest shopping, and the most beautiful and classy looking people on the face of the planet. You can get almost anything there. Iam able to find one of my favorite things at King of Prussia, reasonably priced dual time watches. Today I got myself a nice new one as one of my holiday gifts from my mom. (Although it is not exactly Christmas or Hanakkah yet)
Overall, I had a very good day. There was only one con. I ate at a place called the Cheesecake Factory with Barney. It is a place I have been to before. In addition to having to wait 30-45 minutes because the place was packed, the meal was one of the most ridiculously priced meals I have ever eaten. All I had was a side Ceasar Salad, a Burger with Fries, a Coke, and Hot tea, and the bill including the waiter's tip, was $25! I mean, I know that not all places one goes to are going to be the $6 reasonably priced buffets we have in Lancaster, but I just thought $25 for those items was high! In Lancaster, a chicken fingers entree with salad, Coke, Teas and tip will be about $18-19. A bit high, but not as bad as the Cheesecake factory. I told my friend that I will not be going to that Resturant again!
Nonetheless, my day was a good one. I love King of Prussia, and one day hope to move to the Philly surburbs. I will then be able to go to that mall all the time. The Philly suburbs are great, they have some beautiful towns there. Gosh, having King of Prussia as your local mall must be so cool! Our mall here, Park City, is okay. We have record stores and book stores there, but no fine shops. What Lancaster does have which is very nice are fine factory outlet stores where you can get designer clothes at discounted prices in comparison to dept stores. We have a Polo outlet here, J Crew, and other fine stores, so if I have the money and need a Polo shirt or a pair of jeans, it is accessable. I bought two pairs of Polo jeans last year at the outlet stores and I love them.
Overall, Lancaster has some attributes, among them great places to eat, the outlets, and a 16 screen theater right down the road from my apartment, but if you want to visit the best mall on the East Coast, King of Prussia cant be beat. Anyone visiting the Philly area who hasnt been there should definitely give it a look, even if you dont want to buy anything. The mall itself is an experience.
