I saw the "hypothetical question" thread there a few moments a go and and idea dawned on me. I have this book called Kokology: The Game of Self-Discovery. It's written by Tadahiko Nagao and Isamu Saito and it's an awesome little book so if you ever see it pick it up. Its a series of various hypothetical questions and situations. You are presented with these then asked to either answer freely or chose from a set of answers. When you're done the psychology behind the question and your answer is revealed and you learn a little something about yourself. So I thought I'd try posting one of the questions from the book. I'll wait a day for everyone who wants to play to post an answer then I'll post the "solution" as it were. If this goes over well ane everyone has fun then I can make this a regular thing.

Okay, here we go. Kokology game round one!

A Desert Journey

Your desktop is spilling over with unfinished paperwork; the rest of the office has already gone home for the night. You look up at the clock and it laughs back. You wonder, with a sinking feeling inside, if this job will ever be done.

The professor drones on and on through a three-hour double lecture on the world's most boring subject. There's no space left for doodles in your notebook, and you're only thirty minuets into the class. You begin to think you've somehow been frozen in time.

Waiting can be a special form of torture, worse than any momentary pain. The combination of frustration and boredom can send even the bravest heart into a state of panic. Our first journey will bring us face-to-face with the infinite. Take a moment to prepare yourself, and enter the eternal desert...

1. You are riding a camel across the vast and epmty expanse of a seemingly endless desert. You have ridden until you are near exhaustion. What words would you say to the camel that has carried you all the way?

2. Just at the point when you thought you'd die of thirst, a beautiful oasis appears. But someone has arrived before you. Who is this other traveler? (Use the name of a person you know.)

3. Time passes slowly in the desert, and it feels like an eternity before the lights of town appear on the horizon. You have finally reached your destination. What are your feelings as you come to your journey's end?

4. The time has come to part with the camel you have ridden for so long. Just as you dismount, a new rider climbs into the saddle to take your place. Who is the new rider? (Name another person in your life.)

Please please please don't die on me!

Am I supposed to answer with the first thing to come to my head? My husband.

"Thank God...give me a shower and a bed..."

4. The time has come to part with the camel you have ridden for so long. Just as you dismount, a new rider climbs into the saddle to take your place. Who is the new rider? (Name another person in your life.)

This is hard...I dont know many people. I'll say HDS 😉

Bearing in mind that the answers to the questions should occupy through the 3 hours of waiting, I give the following brief answers with reserve.

1. "If we don't find that oasis soon, both of us are for it, mate!"

2. My colleague, Valmer

3. "Where do they house camels in this place? (city lights, night time, you know)"

4. Roger O. He never did have much consideration for others - why should he care about the camel?

I knew it, I just KNEW I would be one of the two people she would choose. -_-

1. "We still have a long way to go."

2. My old AP Bio teacher. I could see finding him out there in the midst of a scorching wastland, doing bio things. 😛

3. Mos Eisley! (Seriously)

4. My paternal grandfather. He hates cold and loves heat (We have to beg to get the AC turned on when we visit him in Savannah), so he would love a desert jaunt. Nessie was my first thought, but that was probably affected by here earlier response.

Hehe, well those are some interesting replies. I guess it's only fair that I post my answers to then isn't it?

1. Don't give up, just a while longer my friend.

2. My oldest friend in life, Cody. I've known him since the first grade.

3. There, that wasn't all that bad. I knew we'd make it.

4. A man from New York named Scott.

Well, three posts wasn't as grand as I was hoping for but maybe after the first one it'll get more popular. And now, for the moment you've all been waiting for...

Key to A Desert Journey

The desert and camel theme symbolizes the journey toward personal independence. Specifically, this scenario reveals your feelings about parting with a lover. Your answers show how you might react when the time comes to go your seperate ways.

1. The words you spoke to the camel reveal what you might say to yourself when you realize love has been lost. Did you try words of encouragement like "We'll make it through somehow!" or "Don't worry, this can't go on forever"? Or was there a hint of despair-"We're lost...this is hopeless...I think we're going to die out here"?

2. In psychological terms, the oasis symbolizes the key to solving one's problems. The person you encountered here could be someone who has helped or comforted you in the past or you one might turn to in times of need.

3. The town at journey's end stands for the order restored to your emotions once you've recovered from your broken heart. Your feelings upon reaching the town are your true feelings about finally getting over a lost love.

4. The new rider is a person tword whom you feel a secret rivalry, jelousy, or resentment. Is the person you named a rival in love or maybe someone who once broke your heart?

And there we have it. So, give me some feed back. Was this fun? Should I do this again? What do ya'll think?

It was fun I think. 🙂 I don't thihnk everyone would give answers that really match up with answers they would have given if the questions in your 2nd post had een asked directly though. I'd want to do it again 🙂

Spot on for me every time. Quite an interesting exercise.
