Hello Gang:

I read a recent article about a guy who filed a human rights complaint about having to pay cover charge and full price for drinks in Trenton, NJ on ladies night. For the full story do a yahoo or goggle under David Gillespie*ladies night*. Anyway, the court ruled in his favour that ladies night discrimates against men. What do you guys think.(It may sound silly but he may have a point).

But tis not discrimination when guys make more in the same profession, doing the same things? Riight

i think that is stupid he got all butt hurt because he was spending more than ladies?? well he shouldnt have been at the bar then in the first place, or go to a bar who has Men's Night, in my opinion I feel that is not discrimination because ladies nights's are announced beofre they happen so he knew what he was getting into before he got there, and most of the men dont complain because that means more ladies for more men

I have never seen a bar have a "men's night", or anything similar. They may have them but I have never seen them. I think that is his point.

If his point is that there's never something similar for men, I can see his arguement...kinda. However, things like this generally don't get anywhere since they fall into the category of a sale. As long as the cover/regular price is a fair one and used all the time, there's no law that says a sale can't be offered to a specific group at a specific time. This would be like me suing some place like Sam's Club for not letting me in as early as they let in business owners. The REGULAR hours/prices are what count. I suspect that, if the bar chose to appeal, they'd win.

I think he might get beat up by many people because there are a lot of guys that go to ladies night to meet women. It might ruin business to take it away. Besides, If you don't like it, DONT GO TO THE BAR.

BLEHHHHH

Yet another example of how a business owner cannot run their own business as they see fit.

They aren't beating the men wiyth big sticks on ladies' night. They aren't preventing his entry to the establishment. They aren't doing anything TO the men. They are simply running a special to bring in more women. And the reason? Because that in turn brings in the men who will spend THEIR money. It's called a promotional technique, not discrimination.

Next thing you know he'll be suing a women's clothing manufacturer for selling only women's clothing!

🙄

Yet one more example of how we're losing our bearings in this society. By the way, here in this area, we have clubs that will host 'Ladies' Night' anyway.

ladies night no more

I think his point is, would a bar get away with having a "white night" or "hetro night". The gays and the blacks would be tearing down the place in no time.
