Ross was getting ready to leave on his OKC trip,. really, except for one or two days in the office upon his return before Kayley's and his long and lengthy trip, Ross's last major business event before the couple';s major jaunt "Away from everything"
Ross kissed Kayley goodbye. "Two days, if I can, three at most. After that, except for one or at most two days in the office when I come home, you then get your husband as your "Constant companion" for a month. Do you think you can handle that?" Ross asked.
Kayley put her arms around Ross's neck. "I think so, as long as you give me quality time, loving, good conversation, oh, and just to cap it off, lots of wild sex!" Kayley said, as Ross and Kayley both laughed and rubbed noses.
Ross flew to OKC, took a cab to the office, entered, and greeted Fritz and Steve. "Partner from up yonder. Hello., Uh,oh, you look troubled. What did Mister T Patrick do this time?" Fritz asked.
Ross took an iced tea out of the fridge, opened it, looked at Fritz and Steve, and sighed.
"Guys, I've reached the end of my rope. I had a very straight to the point meeting with Timothy a few days ago. I offered him the choice of my resigning, him firing me, or me doing something else very drastic" Ross said.
"Okay, so what happened?" Fritz asked.
"I hope you both will be okay with what I am planning to do. It seems like the only way. Tim does not want to fire me, and he and I agreed that we both dont want me to resign. I told him that I need a break, from everything. This is why. I am going to take a month off from the office, from work, and Miss Kayley and I are going to take a long vacation to a few different places, so I can relax, recharge, not have to see the office, or Timothy. However, it also might mean, that, unless you guys would agree to perhaps put off a deal for a couple of weeks, I might have to sit one deal out. This is absolutely no disrespect to either one of you, or to our partnership, but, guys, I just need to get away with Kayley for a while. I'm at my wits end" Ross said.
Fritz went over, and shook Ross's hand. "My dear friend. Thank You for letting us know that. Looking at all the stress you are constantly under with Timothy, the office, and other things, I'm surprised that you did not do something like this a long time ago. As for the monthly oil and gas deal, nothing says that we have to do one every month. Even if we wait six weeks to two months to do the next deal after this one. Either Steve and I can interview investors and then whoever we get you just sign on when you get back., Or, we either do a real estate plan that you are either not involved in, or have a minority involvement, your choice,. Most important is your piece of mind" Fritz said.
Ross smiled warmly. "Thank You both. I really appreciate your understanding. If you change your mind, just let me know and go ahead with something, but, if you would be willing to wait considering how many deals we do, and how much money we all make with each other every year, I would really appreciate it" Ross said.
An hour later, one hundred investors were present at the field, for a field office presentation on the DVD player there. They were then driven to the field, given detailed instructions about the deal, and the time frame of investors, and return. About forty committed to sign. Not bad, not great, but Ross was not going to obsess over it. Ross had more important things on his mind.
That night, when Ross, Steve, and Fritz went to dinner, Fritz said. "One more show, tomorrow, then you please get on a late flight, get out of here, and go on your vacation. Postponing or cutting one show is no big deal. More important is for you to start this jaunt. If someone does want to see a third show, Steve and I will take care of it, and then you will just sign whenever you get home" Fritz said.
"Thanks, Fritz" Ross said.
When Ross went back to the hotel he called Kayley.
"One more show. I will be out of here at midnight tomorrow, home the following morning. If I have any energy, I'm going to try to drag myself into the office the next day, even if its for four or five hours, just to tie things up. After all, you cant say I wont be resting after that. A month's break will certainly recharge two or three days where I worked hard:" Ross said.
"Okay, see you two days from now in the morning. Take care of yourself, and Good Luck. " Kayley said.
The next day, Ross, Fritz and Steve went back to the fields with what turned out to be two hundred investors, of which once the presentation was over, they got a nice going away present of seventy five signups. Thus, in total, between the two days and two shows,. one hundred fifteen people had committed to sign, a nice little sum.
Now, the shows were over, and Ross was free to go off to his much needed hiatus.
Ross, Fritz and Steve went back to the office, talked a bit, had dinner, and then prepared to say their goodbyes
"Buddy, we did well this time. Seriously,. You and Miss Kayley have a wonderful break, rest, relax, and take care of yourselves" as Fritz patted Ross on the back warmly, and Steve sincerely shook Ross's hand.
"Thank You, my friends. I appreciate the support. I expect you will both be seeing me again in about six weeks to two months. I think you both know I need this for my sanity" Ross said.
Ross got on the plane, flew home, dropped off his case at the apartment, changed, and went into the office. Kayley was home because her summer break had already started.,
"Four hours, five at most. I would not be going in if this was a normal trip, but we both know it is not: Ross said.
"Okay, have a good time today: " Kayley said.
Ross went into the office, ran through a few messages, and emails, and then called Timothy.
"I'm leaving today. Anything you want to talk about?" Ross asked Tim.
"No, not really. . Just have a good time,. and I will talk to you when you get home" Tim said sincerely.
"Thanks" Ross said.
"Vic, my office, one minute please" Ross said.
Ross went into the office with Vic, and closed the door.
"Vic, you know why I'm doing this dont you?" Ross said.
"Ross, you are not accountable to me. From a human standpoint, and as your friend, yes of course I know. I hope you return in a month from now feeling rested, recharged, and feeling better" Vic said.
"Thanks" Ross said, shaking Vic's hand.
Ross started for the door.
"Okay, I will be back in a month. Everyone have a good month, and Good Luck" Ross said.
"Have fun and relax Ross. Everyone knows you need this" Ross's secretary said.
"Thanks" Ross said, heading out the door.
Ross went home in his Uber, and entered the apartment,.
"Well, I'm yours for one month " Ross said, kissing Kayley.
"Honey, I think you made a wonderful and wise decision. You really need time, and we need time with each other" Kayley said, kissing Ross and rubbing his back supportively.,
The next morning, Ross and Kayley got their suitcases., locked up the apartment, and went to JFK for the flight to San Fransisco, and connecting flight to Anchorage Alaska, where after one night stop over in Anchorage, they would board the boat for their wonderful Alaskan Cruise.
A major adventure was about to begin. An adventure for Ross, and Kayley, into the unknown, even though it was intended as an extended vacation.
What would happen on this extended adventure?
That would be seen.
