Hope the link works. It is a very interesting article which mentions the Laurel and Hardy clip, and tickling in general.

The clip can be found easily on youtube if you search 'Way out west tickling scene'. It's a beautiful scene, and everybody seems to love it and find it memorable. I love Laurel and Hardy, and this Way out West film seems to get a lot of praise. I've never seen the whole film, but people seem to regard Stan being tickled into hysterics as a real high light moment in the film. Hope you enjoy.

I think that it worked so well and was so funny, because we already knew the character so well. It's always great when Stan has one of his laughing fits, for whatever reason. I liked another episode from the silent era, where Ollie grabs Stan's foot instead of his own by mistake, takes his shoe and sock off, and massages it. Stan seems to be enjoying it, and says "Scratch my back". Ollie then realises he's holding Stan's foot and throws it down. I think that episode is called Angora love. I find them all very charming any way.
