Why do people start threads saying they are leaving and then keep posting? Forgive this kitten she is new to all this.

...they want to hear the endless choruses of "Oh, No, Don't Go!" and whatnot, then they keep coming back, "just to check and see what people are saying". See, that way, it's not their fault that they keep coming back. If people would only stop posting, they wouldn't have to keep coming back.

It's only the internet to me. I don't give two shits if he's leaving. On the other hand some people use the internet to derive their self-worth. These people post cleavage shots of themselves in their signatures on message boards. They also host polls such as, "do you like me."

That'd be me, I suspect. Babyshambles was saying goodbye, and I offered a rather cynical explanation as to why he'd be leaving. He took offense, as was his right, responded, and I responded to his response. And things went downhill from there, I suppose.....

First things first. Honestly, if people did not care if babyshambles stays and go then they would not post in this thread. Certainly, they would not post over and over again. If you really didn't care they would not post at all and just ignore the thread.

While not the most pressing issue in my life, I do care. I hope babyshambles is able to get on with his life. I hope in the process he learns some good social skills. I hope he learns that asking a woman her shoe size is not a good ice breaker and does not qualify as chatting her up. I hope that he learns that he needs to respect boundaries of others.

I find it a little strange myself how people will go out of their way to tell everyone they don't care. If you don't care, why post? Just to let people know your vote on the subject?

I think. In my opinion. People do this because they want to feel like they are wanted. I don't know. Maybe that sounds cheesy, but I think a lot of people feel unappreciated around here and than they say something like this just to see who really cares. And than we attack them to make them feel bad? To chase them off? It's like policing the forums. Making sure certain people post and others don't. I know some people on here that actually email other members and personally kick them out of the TMF, even if they have no power to do so. Too many people are overly protective of the TMF. And that's what's happening here.

It's like someone walking through the door and a group of people (who don't care) stands beside it mocking the person who went through. This is why the TMF feels so uncomfortable. Too many TMF officers ready to beat you down.
