LeBron to Miami...

Check out the Cleveland Cavaliers web site...

This is an "Open Letter to Fans from Cavaliers Majority Owner Dan Gilbert":

http://www.nba.com/cavaliers/news/gilbert_letter_100708.html

This is coming from the OWNER of the team. THE OWNER!!! Wow!! Bitter much??? This is the OWNER of the team saying this. I think that's a bit harsh, don't ya think? I guess there won't be any "Welcome LeBron Back to Cleveland" nights next year in Ohio.

I was just going to post this. Good job!

I think this is teh best open letter ever. WWF style.

My favorite line, because it sums it up in brutal honesty:

Some people think they should go to heaven but NOT have to die to get there.

DAMN!

I think the Cleveland owner is being unprofessional about the outcome but why did LeBron have to build this up to the way he did. Is he that full of himself? Will someone please tell me why he chose Greenwich, CT (5 minutes to the Knicks training facility) to announce that he was going to a division rival?

By choosing Miami, he recinded the right to compare himself to Jordan because if he wins a championship, Wade was his partner in crime. We already see that he is light years from the grace and professionalism Jordan demonstrated during his playing career.

LeBron disgraced himself last night, putting on this circus and leading people to believe that legitimate teams had a shot, when they never did...that was classless...Wade and Bosh can be added to that too, as this was planned from the start....now he goes to Miami, and what is there besides those three?? NOTHING...

you just didn't see this with players of yesterday...there was respect, which obviously all three of them could use a lesson in learning

All this proves is that Lebron does not have the leadership qualities to winning basketball...he needs a team of all-stars to win

If there is justice, he wins NO titles while in Miami....

I agree with you about LeBron disgracing himself. He is a tool. AFA not winning a title, that would be poetic justice.

Let me state quite clearly that anyone who scolds and/or curses Miami right now confuses me.

I mean, are you not aware of the 80's Celtics and Lakers, the biggest reasons why the NBA had to institute a salary cap???

Did you not hear about the Celts trading Al Jefferson and a bunch of scrubs for KG or trading a #5 overall pick, Wally Sczerbiak and Delonte West for one of the best pure shooters in the game?

Were you in a coma when the Lakers robbed the Grizzlies of Pau Gasol and left a flaming bag of crap in thier doorway?

Miami is not the first team to load its team with superstars and has every right to win a title, largely due to their front office/ownership.

Don't hate the player/team, hate the game.

I think the problem is Heat are trying to buy a championship . The Heat along with 6 or 7 other teams started purging their roster of players and salary for a bonanza in free agency 2010 . The problem is these teams did this and for the last few years these teams haven`t been competitive or in some cases they had been a joke .

I do believe the ROBBERY of Pau Gasol was an inside job. So did a bunch of other GMs who went to the NBA saying this was colusion between Jerry West and Mitch Kupcheck

West ''retired '' shortly after Gasol ''robbery '' .

lets see west played for Lakers from 1960-1974

he was head coach for Lakers from 76-79

he was a Lakers scout for 3 years after coaching and became Laker GM in 1982-94 .

Lakers exc. v. president from 1995-2002

I am sure the are all coincendences and had nothing to do with Lakers flogging Grizzlies for Gasol . :objection:

See, but that's why I don't get the hate.

Every other team in the league wanted Lebron (and/or D-Wade and Bosh), too.

The Knicks and Bulls both could have signed D-Wade, Bosh and Lebron.

The Cavs could have signed Lebron and either D-Wade or Bosh.

It's not like the Heat 'cheated' to get Lebron, Wade and Bosh, they just happened to have what it takes to sign all three.

And there are countless examples of NBA teams putting together 'stacked' teams to win a title (83 Sixers, 80's Lakers and Celts...)

The problem to me isn't the Heat, it's the NBA.

The Heat are buying a championship... just like the Lakers and Celtics

Lebron is a selfish, egotistical, narcisstic punk... just like 1/2 of all NBA players

Lebron betrayed an entire city/state... just like David Stern and Clay Bennett betrayed Seattle, WA

etc, etc...

Lebron sucks. End of story to me. He showed just how sorry he really is. Strip him of his superstar status because he is not.

Anyway, LeBron doesn't owe Cleveland a thing.

Bullshit. LeBron OWED Cleveland the professional courtesy to inform them of his decision like a man. Instead, he ignored management phone calls and let the city that treated him with god-like adoration learn of his decision in front of a national audience.

actually he didnt, he was a free agent with 0 ties to the cavaliers he didnt owe them a thing. He never even had to go on a free agent visit to them, so sorry but he owes them nothing

Trez the ignorant strikes again. You have no idea what you are talking about. You are starting to remind me of a backward ass Steelers fan with his head up his ass.....oh wait a minute you are a backward ass Steelers fan. You have no idea of all that has gone on over the last 2 years between LeJackoff and the Cavs. It is easy to post your uninformed uneducated trash on this forum without having the slightest clue as to what you are talking about. I suggest you and all the rest of you LePenis fans STFU for 2 weeks and then come back here and tell us your opinion after the truth is revealed. I don't claim to know all of the truth but I know alot more than anyone here does. I have been in LeQuitters home on 2 occasions but I have a friend who works for LeRetard who knows alot of the sordid details. Just wait because LeFools dirty laundry will be leaked by Dan Gilbert in the next few weeks.

And another thing Trez the feeble minded, Cavalier management had been trying to establish contact with him directly, not with his so called people, since the season ended. Guess what Einstien, he was not a free agent at that time and was still the property of the Cavaliers until July 1st. During the period he was still under contract to the Cavs he still ignored them because he is a selfish, egotistical, self absorbed, 25 year old punk.......probably not much unlike yourself! By the way, how is Shitsburgh's NBA franchise doing these days......oh yeah thats right, they don't have one.....soo sad.

those with no real stance on things will attack someone else, or state crazy things like they know Lebron personally, but thats fine. As i said again after his last game with the Cavs he didnt owe them anything, he never had to answer a call or even visit them. He could have said nah screw you guys i have no intrest in you at all. But he didnt, he said he wanted to stay there and tried to get bosh to come in a sign and trade which the cavaliers and raptors were all for. I cant make it clearer he owes them nothing!

and you can take shots at the steelers all you want, just when your done remember who has the most superbowl rings. Have a nice day

The three of them seem to have had this planned out for a while, and if he knew he had no intention of staying in Cleveland he should have told the people months ago instead of leading them on in this charade. Trez, how many jobs have you left without giving your employer advanced notice?

The move makes sense if he wants to win (despite the fact that Cleveland had the best record two years in a row), so I don't fault him for that. If he loves his hometown/state so much he would have let us know of his true intentions.

I truly believe fans would have been more understanding if he would have held a press conference and given his decision a month ago. Now he is the most hated man in Ohio.

This just reeks of someone who has created another account to start crap anonymously . Everytime you open your mouth it shows how pathetic you are . How poetic; your 2nd screen name fits you perfectly !!

Ah yes, more misinformation. First, about that Gasol trade. People don't realize, or just don't want to admit the Grizzlies didn't get stiffed in that trade. "Oh primetime, you're just saying that because the Lakers are winning!". No, how about you take a closer look.

Before he was traded, what was Pau Gasol doing? Good player, but was 0-12 in his playoff history. Jerry West was NOT the GM of Memphis at the time of the trade. Look it up. He wasn't. What did the Lakers give Memphis? Everyone has this notion the trade was Gasol for Kwame Brown straight up. It wasn't. The Lakers gave up Kwame the Bust, but they also gave up Marc Gasol (who is showing his worth), Javaris Crittendon, and TWO 1st round picks (2008 and 2010). Now, how has Memphis been doing since the trade? They are actually up and coming. You can see the improvement of their team. They are headed in the right direction. In fact, they finished 10th in the West last year (10 games out of a playoff berth), AND if they were in the East, they would have finished a game out of the playoffs.

You want to talk about highway robbery and collusion? The Kevin Garnett trade to Boston. Now, what did the T-Wolves get? How are the T-wolves doing after the trade? Yeah, I think Memphis got the better trade deal...

As for Lebron, like I keep mentioning in another thread, what he did to Cleveland was completely fucked up. Yeah, he has his right to choose any team, but the simple fact that he left those fans in the lurch, didn't have the common deceny to tell the Cavs organization he was bailing, speaks of the utmost disrespect, especially after the owner gave him the keys to the kingdom. Do you know the owner built the Cavs practice facility closer to Lebron's house so this spoiled brat didn't have to travel far to practice? Did you know it was Lebron who had a say in Mike Brown's hiring? Did you know the Cavs owner allowed James' crew travel on the team plane as though they were a part of the team? You should already know the entire freakin State of Ohio supported Lebron with all their sports hearts.

It is as simple as this. If the Cavs sucked, and weren't even title contenders, by all means leave. If the ownership of the Cavs did not try to win a title, then leave. If the fans didn't pour out in the streets and have "Lebron James Day", and the Governor wasn't asking you to stay, then leave. Cleveland has this "sports curse" and Lebron knows it. He knows how much a win would mean for that entire State. The simple fact that he made the Finals and had the best record should let him know the team was headed in the right direction. He turned his back on them. He turned his back on a city that that supported him with a love like never before in Cleveland history.

When life has you down, especially with this recession, people look for avenues of escape. They look for something to feel good about. The fact that the Cleveland Cavaliers were winning, and winning with ONE OF THEIR OWN, gave people something to feel good about and spend their hard, EARNED cash to watch him play. What does Lebron do? Go on national television, and doesn't give the Cavs organization the respect it deserved after dealing with his pompous ass all these years to let them know BEFOREHAND he was bailing. He publicly humiliated Cleveland across the PLANET. There was no reason for him to do that to that city. That is why I lost respect for Lebron. That's why I thought he wouldn't leave. I didn't think he would crush the city and State from which he came from like the way he did. Lebron is the most cold hearted, self absorbed, athlete ever. You can say Kobe is an egomaniac, you can say T.O. and whoever else are egomaniacs, but none of them have the connection to the city that Lebron had. Kobe is beloved in LA, but if he bounces, we will be pissed, but we won't have "Kobe Bryant day" to keep him. Look at 2004, you didn't see all of Los Angeles pouring out that support the way Cleveland did.

Lebron's legacy is through. He had a chance to win in Cleveland. he was a solid big man away from possibly winning the title. Now, he is swinging off Wade's nuts. Wade already has a ring. Lebron disappears in the playoffs. He is nothing but a ring chaser, not one of the all time greats.

Damn peepeehead, do you really have to attack Trez that way? He is supporting Lebron "I'm Wade's nutkisser" James, not calling people out who disagree with Lebron's decision. Chill dude...

Trez....fool....again read this carefully because you seem to be making things up as you go. I never said I knew LeBaby personally, find where I wrote that dickhead. Secondly, AFTER LEFAGS LAST GAME HE WAS STILL THE PROPERTY OF THE CAVS AND DEFINATELY SHOULD HAVE BEEN TALKING TO THEM. WHAT PART OF THAT DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND? Oh, and I am still waiting to get the schedule for Shitsburgh's NBA franchise. When will that be released!! Never.

That's the problem. These franchises act as if these players are slaves. They didn't own him. His obligations to that team were done when he played his last game there.

Owners get rid of players whenever they want but can't stand when they get dumped. LeBron made a business decision that will be worth it when he's winning multiple championships and Cleveland is still reeling from his departure. For Cleveland, as John Lennon said, "the dream is over."

Next time you paint a picture, could you try using colors other than Purple and Gold???

Crittenton played a whopping 35 games in Memphis.

Kwame played 15 games for the Grizz.

Marc Gasol is getting good now, but was a nobody at the time of the trade. And his brother Pau is still vastly superior by any and all measures.

The first round picks LA gave up were guaranteed to be back-end first rounders since they would be a top-5 team in the NBA with the addition of Pau Gasol.

Who did Memphis pick? Donte Green (who was swapped for Darrell Arthur) and DeMarre Carroll

And sure Memphis is 'up and coming', so just imagine how much better they'd be with Pau Gasol.

Now let's assess what the Lakers get in the deal: Three straight finals appearances and two championships (and counting).

I know you bleed Purple and Gold, but please be objective once in your life and admit that the Lakers robbed Gasol from the Grizz. It's not wrong to admit truth.

You want to talk about highway robbery and collusion? The Kevin Garnett trade to Boston. Now, what did the T-Wolves get? How are the T-wolves doing after the trade? Yeah, I think Memphis got the better trade deal...

Yes that was a terrible trade as well, but Jefferson is a near All Star. None of the players taht the Grizz got for Pau Gasol are as good as Al Jeff.

what am i making up as i go? Just because he was still technically a part of the team does not mean he has to contact them, there is no rule that says the free agent player must give his current team a fair shot

As a laker fan, the scariest prospect of the new Miami team is the possible addition of laker Derek Fisher. Everybody from Pat Riley to Wade and Bosh have been blowing up Fishers cellphone begging him to come to Miami. And for good reason. Sure Fisher can't keep up with the younger quicker point guards in the league, but he's the one teams forget about while trying to defend the super stars, and that's when Fisher buries a three point dagger in the heart with 40 seconds left in the game, that sucks all the life out of an opposing team. The look on Ray Allen's face when they accidentally left Fisher open at the end of the game was priceless. I hope Fisher stays in L A, because you can't teach experience.

Fish ain't leaving. If he does, the Lakers management would get ripped to high heaven.

Cy, dude, you do realize your post made my point stronger. Memphis actually GOT SOMETHING out of the trade. It was NOT a one sided trade. Keep in mind in the NBA, there are 2 rounds. If you can get two first round picks, you can do something with it. If the Grizzlies were still anguishing towards the bottom of the standings, then yeah, you might have a point.

Look at the Twolves. What have they done with their trade? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. Al Jefferson is doing what? Chillin at home watching teams get ready for the playoffs since January. That trade was completely one sided. KG goes on to Boston and makes two finals, and has title. Next time, pay attention to the point I am trying to make. That Gasol trade was NOT one sided.

Thanks to Gasol, Kobe has been to three straight finals and won two.

I like how you call the T-Wolves trading for the best player on their team 'ABSOLUTELY NOTHING', but call Memphis trading an established star for his undeveloped younger brother, two players who played 50 combined games and two bench players 'SOMETHING'. If by 'something' you mean, something other than a steaming pile of dung, then yes, Memphis got 'something' alright.

Furthermore, Marc Gasol is not the reason why the Grizz are a 'decent' team.

Zach Randolph, Rudy Gay and OJ Mayo are.

Minnesota would still lose 45 or more games if they swapped Al Jeff (team leader for MPG and PPG, 2nd in TRB and FG%) with KG, mainly because their GM Kahn is an idiot. Memphis would probably make the playoffs if they swapped Marc for Pau Gasol. I mean, they only made the playoffs in the three years prior to him being traded and all.

Any point you are trying to make is failing since you are a biased Lakers fan.
