I don't always think this is a place for so much analysis, BUT:
I think it's logical to assume that there's no way to get a real percentile comparison of lers and lees in male and female categories. We don't have an accurate representation here. So many people may be in the closet, don't realize their fetish, choose not to participate in forums, etc. I knew girls who would join forums of their interests under a male identity as a way to keep people at a further distance. We live in a society where men/boys are encouraged to be extroverted and women/girls are encouraged to be reserved. Certainly these generalizations are broken all the time by individuals, but the expectation exists in our unconscious mind; that's how culture so often works to mold our personal behaviors. Many people of both genders feel pressure to be a certain kind of person appropriate to our gender. If women think certain preferences will gain them acceptance, especially from the gender she's attracted to, she will begin to exhibit them. Being a female lee is more acceptable to our unconscious (or conscious!) beliefs about gender than being a male lee. Aren't there a fewer number of them as well as female lers, as far as people assume from what they see on this forum? Being a dominant female is still taboo in our society, whatever our individual preferences are. There will be fewer of them if for no other reason than the fact that women/girls often don't feel they have the right to dominate, or have the right to take up space on the couch. I'm a rather assertive person but I know in my mind that I fight these unconscious social teachings all the time, every day. If you're a younger female, you may never have considered what it would be like to do the deviant thing and dominate. Its scary because there exists a fear of rejection. It's not the "natural order." As if we had a clue what that could even be. I myself identify as gender queer/androgynous. How does that fit into male/female stereotyping? So much for natural order.
I'm easily 70% ler and am generally only a lee for other women. How much is my presence counted here? I hardly post at all compared to others. If we were to make assumptions based on who we interact with here, how many voices would be excluded?
