Less Activity?

Is it just me, or have I been off here for so long that it seems that there is less activity on TickleTheater than there used to be?

I have observed the activity decline as well. I have read that forums in general have been waning in recent years due to competition from tube sites, social media, and other types of content.

I think we as a community can combat this trend by providing more incentive to check the site on a more regular basis; while social media provides a more interactive experience with sharing personal information and grouping around more specific topics, and video/art sites are more effective at sharing and finding creative material, community forums can still be a very powerful tool for focusing on interaction within a community of like-minded individuals...and TickleTheater is second to none when it comes to having a tight, supportive community of tickle-lovers!

As we have more than enough members here who value this site as being very important in both their personal and social lives (as evidenced during the general reaction from the Theater's recent downtime), I think that with the proper incentive, the Theater can easily see more user traffic, more discussions, more back-alley tickle-fights...more of everything that's gotten us to fall in love with the site in the first place!

The question then is, what incentives would appeal most to you? Is there a particular feature you all would like to see implimented, that'll increase the value of spending time at the Theater? Would you all br interested in things like story contests, or other events that the community might want to be involved with? For example, GrayJester23 and I have recently been entertaining the idea of experimenting with a sort of online urban-fantasy D&D-esque game that's been doctored a bit to utilize tickling as its main mechanic, that might be playable (and spectatable) here in the forums. Would people possibly be interested in things like that?

We'd love to hear other ideas that might interested you all! 😀

Otherwise, yes...the Theater certainly has been experiencing a decline in activity over the past few years - but no way are we going to be down and out, especially if we've still got an amazing community of awesome people around who make us the great site that we are and have always been. 🙂

As a new member I'll say the theater is feels like a better place to chat and post than TMF. I think this site is far more user friendly too. As far as getting more activity, well.. that informations above my pay scale haha.

Many websites are less active than they were...i know that mydungeonspace shut down, probably due to little or no activity.

I recently left fetlife, which is still super active...however more activity isn't necessarily a good thing as there is much fighting and disputes going on there.

That's not why i left, i just lost interest...which could be the reason behind the lesser activity on many of these websites.

I certainly like the setup: design, functionality, etc. better here, than at TMF.

I can't stand the barrage of sidebar advertisements on the TMF. And really, TMF just seems to have a much heavier ratio of people posting purely to advertise their stuff.

I agree. This forum is much less active... Dramatic decrease last few years. I'm not going anywhere though 🙂

Does Adblocker not help out with that?

I'm not going anywhere though.

Me neither. I'm here to stay! I just had the plush carpeting put in after all. ^_~

It's been christmas and new years lately, and people are less likely to go on forums and talk when they're seeing friends and family (even though they probably won't talk about our topics with them, there's still some social satiation). From what I've experienced, activity will rise soon again.

Regarding comparisons with other communities and their activity, quality will always be above quantity.

I drifted from TT for a couple years a while back. When I came back the activity had massively dropped. I do think the content is generally of higher quality than TMF. But I found the whole online tickle community through TT, so it will always have a special place in my heart. Long Live TT!

I always enjoyed the chat activity here, it's my favorite thing about it. It's been picking up lately.

A pity I cannot be able on chat for a while, as my Java has done something wrong with the connection, believing some virus thingie and thus kicking me out of the room. ;-;

I tried by checking, but it says something about this java deployment kit that says its known to be insecure and is unnecessary in most cases. Users should keep it disabled unless strictly necessary.

But on mine it says ask to activate or never activate it, hence a major list on my firefox that has the same line of ask to/never activate. :/

Yeah this place might be slowing down a bit, but this is home to so many of us...this place found me at a time I was nearly suicidal and brought me friends, so I'm not going anywhere.

As for how to perk it up, I like the idea of 'contests' and such, incentive for people to post content. People do occasionally share ideas that they don't feel able or are too busy to do themselves, especially with writing, and I think that is a wonderful thing-if we could do more of that, maybe even a form for idea sharing (maybe just one thread would do, I'm no judge of that).

People often read stories and not do much commenting. I have a lot of stories on deviantart--I've decided to post more here lately (and it's about time I post another, come to think of it). It might bring more writers out if people were more inclined to comment and stuff.

I'm a writer, so writing ideas are my forte

I definitely agree. The creative stuff is a big part of what seems to define this site, in addition to the general pleasantness and tight community. More of it (and more support for the submitters) can really stir things up around here - and the chain reaction can really pick up if we're persistent.

What are some things that you all would most like to see here?

How about a Hall of Fame? But call it the Hall of Feathers class of 2014 or whatever year, honoring those members who have been here the longest, asking them to share what they feel were some of their highlights of being a part of the Theater and/or tickling community as a whole?
