Looking for a new hobby

Hi All! As a lot of you probably know (or could guess by my user name) I am a gamer (video games), or actually, I should say used to be a gamer. Lately though, I've not been having as much fun with games as I used to.

I've been looking for a new hobby as of late, but so far haven't found anything. I thought I'd ask you all for advice, because I'm tired of the searching.

I do have a few of rules for a hobby.

1. I enjoy being creative. Making something out of, seemingly, nothing.

2. I would like it if the new hobby let me use both my hands and mind (like gaming did. Well, some games did).

3. This isn't a make or break thing, but it would help if (after I got good at the new hobby) that I could make a little money from it. Again though. This isn't high priority.

Before anyone says it, let me say that I can't draw or paint. Tried them years ago.

Yeah. They are pretty fun. Got one last Christmas. Thing is, and I probably should have mentioned this, sorry, I'm not very musically inclined.

I feel in love with the sound of the Kalimba while watching ASMR Darling's videos on YouTube.

Order a Bob Ross "Joy of Painting" starter kit and get to it. I listen to his old shows on youtube religiously before bed because his subtle voice and the sound of the brushes on the canvas knock me out faster than any sleep aid ever did.

I don't know what it is, TBH. I like listening to good music, but never had much in the way of musical skill. I'm the same way with singing.

I always hated being drug up to sing at church when I was young. IDK. I've just always hated my voice I guess.

Have you tried working with wood? Building furniture and bondage equipment is something I do, pretty much exclusively for personal use at the moment. I've played with the idea of building some rustic furniture to sell, especially because the price of lumber is sky high right now.

That's kind of more my type of thing. I always loved the idea of building stuff. I couldn't do big stuff (like tables and the like), I don't have room, but maybe something on a smaller scale. I'll look into that. Thanks!

If you have the money (it can be expensive), I highly recommend miniature wargaming, particularly Games Workshop's: Warhammmer, Warhammer 40k and the like. You assemble them, paint them and can even play with them with other like-minded people. It is very rewarding and tons of fun~

I'm not going to lie. I have thought about that a lot. Even bought a D&D player's handbook (for E5), but couldn't ever find people to group up with.

D&D is cool, I love pen-and-paper RPGs. But the great thing about miniature wargaming is that even if you do not have anyone to play with, you can collect the miniatures and proudly put them inside a display case for any visitor to see. Assembling/converting and painting them is a hobby-within-the-hobby that you might enjoy a lot, especially since you mentioned earlier that you want to create something with your hands. Buy just one or two miniatures at first, some paint and brushes (total ~$50), and try to replicate the color schemes you find on the Internet, see if you like it. The lore also makes for a great read as well, ripe with novels and comics that you might want to dedicate some time to.
