Loss of a community pioneer and friend.

Many thanks to all who have posted kind words to our friend. Many thanks also to fur for posting the link to the deviantart site. I would suggest t anyone that now is the time to seek these links out while you can. I'm working with another in making a list of things that need to be addressed in the near future to help the family wrap up Hahathna's business.

As of now I don't know exactly what will come of his art collection. We built much of it together back in our comics days from the many artists we knew in the business. We have started some talk about putting it together in some form to make copies available so the proceeds can help the family out. That's something I'll talk to his sister about, but this is no where close to being the time to talk about that. As mush as I talked to him about the future when his health was turning, he really didn't prep his family for what to expect. The last time I saw him he wasn't doing well, but he always brushed my worries aside. He just had a way about him that made your worries float away. The last time we were together he had come down to visit with a mutual friend. With my wife and I we talked and laughed for hours. So hard at times I saw stars. He was one of a kind.

Although his sister knew a little of his interest, I don't think she knew the extent of his involvement in the web community, nor the size of his collection. As for websites, those will most likely be closed in the near future.

There is a lot to take care of in the next few weeks.

I just miss my friend.

I think this pretty much sums it up. Sadly, I have never gotten to know him, but as many others, I am a huge admirer of his work. The artwork he did for the community as well as the kind of person many say he was will survive and will help him to live on forever in our minds and hearts.

Set up another round. This one's on me.

Deeply saddened to hear of such a close loss...RIP. Condolences to his family and closest. 🙁

I am deeply saddened to hear this.

Hahathna was a favorite artist and a great guy, unselfishly offering to the community not only his own excellent works but commissions he spent much money on.

His sudden death comes as a shock. My thoughts go out to his family and personal friends.

I think that is a very good idea. It would be lovely to have an actual bound book of his collection, with some kind of commemoration page. I don't know if that is financially feasible; however, some kind of commemoration should be included in anything, should it come together. I hate to see people forgotten, but it's all our fate. He'll be remembered for other things outside this community. This just allows the people here to remember him for all the talented and generous things he did for us.

Hahathna's work was some of the first tickle-related art i ever saw. the quality of work was brilliant, and i always liked coming across older and newer works when i did.

he's another one of those guys i always wanted to shake hands with and say "Thank you." to. i do hope his family and friends come through everything all right, and my best wishes to all that know him.

Wow...this is truly shocking.

I would like to thank him for sharing his incredible art with us. That's the sort of thing that can't ever really be returned.

May he rest peacefully.

My condolences.

I've lurked for years. Havent said much. The least I can do is pay my respects.

I was always a big fan of his work though I never said anything. I will miss his artwork as well as his sense of humor. My thoughts and prayers go out to him, his family, and all those affected by such a tragic loss.

Rest in peace. Hope your looking down now at all the lives you've touched.

(sigh) If only we would show our artists this level of support while they're still with us.

But I do believe that Hahathna is looking down and can see just how deeply we all care.

Just logging in, but BZ told me about this Sunday.

Hahathna inspired and entertained many of us and was one of the greatest contributors to the tickling scene. And TKForce what you said was right on the money. I'm glad I got to know Hahathna, even if it was just a little bit, before he passed away.

I sadly never came to know him personally, but I will miss his presence and work... perhaps the most tragic thing about the death of an artist is all of those great works that will never be created... 🙁

My thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of this talented member of our community.

Hahathna contributed so very much to our community. He will be missed.

Rest easy,Friend!:dropatear

Farewell, Hahathna. You will never be forgotten. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

All the more reason to remember and appreciate the work that an artist HAS done.

My sincere condolence. I have seen his works around. When someone passes away, I reflect on life's constant reminder that nothing is absolute. May he rest in peace.

I would like to pay my respects and thank him for all the terrific art he contributed over the years.

A sad loss indeed.

I am really saddened to hear that Hahathna has passed. I don't know why, but I always feel a particular sense of loss when someone from the community passes, particularly someone who has contributed so much as he.

I will definitely miss him. My absolute condolences to Hahathna's family and friends.

Rest in peace, my friend.

This is really terrible news. My condolences to his family and friends. What a terrible shame.

Death comes for us all sooner or later. I've always had a hard time being like everyone else when someone close died. I've spent my life training in Kendo, the Japanese art of swordsmanship, so I've done a lot of contemplation on what life is and what it's all about. That sort of thing becomes important when you train in an art who's sole purpose is ultimately the taking of life.

I never knew Hahathna, though I've always enjoyed his art. And while I cannot grieve his passing, the responses I've read for and about him in this thread and on his DeviantArt page bring me a great sense of respect for this man. Being mortal means being indescribably fragile. I live my life on the razor's edge because I want to see and do everything I can before I finally slip and fall. And it is apparent that this man chose to do the same. Opening his hands and heart to new friends at every turn and choosing to embrace his passions in life without hesitation. This is something that any warrior, any person, can admire and respect.

Well done Hahathna, may the fire of your passion blaze on forever and never speak softly.

~Jonathan
