Everyone is different, including physiologically, so this may not work for anyone else. But I lost about 15 pounds, going from about 15 pounds overweight to the right weight, and I've noticed that I'm a lot more ticklish when it is a "digging" (as opposed to light touches) style. I came to enjoy jogging, and that, with no change in eating habits, resulted in the weight loss. (Previously, I had made the conscious decision that I'd rather be a bit overweight than cut down on my cherished junk food.)

So, if anyone needs more motivation than "it's good for your health..."

It surely does depend on the person but overall, it seems losing weight increases ticklishness for people. Very cool 😀
 
Do fat cells block the nervous system? Probably yes... Blubber is deadly!

I've heard that fat can block nerves. It gets inbetween the skin and the nerve so the sense of touch is decreased. That's probably why most people are so ridiculously ticklish on their ribs, usually not that much fat there.

Thanks, BrandiElizabeth! I wish Chicago were closer to Maine, so you could test my limits!

I didn't really lose weight on purpose. It's just that I started noticing that I had gotten really out of shape. Like if I sprinted for a block for some reason, I'd be winded way too soon. But I'm a slug in the morning, and the conventional wisdom is, that's when you exercise. Then I decided to reject morning exercise, and on each weekend afternoon, just jog 30 minutes along the lake (30 min from the moment I left my front door until I stopped), super-slow at first, old people passing me. I also tried to do it once or twice after work during the week. Gradually got a bit quicker, felt better, dropped some weight. I actually started losing more than I wanted to, because I HATE cloths shopping and like my current suits for example. So I started eating more junk food (which I love) so I would not lose too much LOL. For many, regular exercise only works if it is part of a schedule. For me, it's the exact opposite. I try for 3-4x/wk, finding a 30 min gap in time on weekend afternoons, sometimes after work, a rare morning where I wake up with energy. That makes it fun and not a chore, which is how I maintain it. I also couldn't stand treadmills, because I was literally looking at the timer every minute or 2. Outside, I see all kinds of interesting and sometimes crazy things. This won't workfor most, but it's one approach!

That idea alone might actually 'inspire' me to try to lose weight.
 
I lost 60 and am WAY more ticklish! I was actually amazed when inrealized it.
 
I'm curious about this because I always assumed thinner people were more ticklish, at least it seems that way from a lot of vids I've seen. But I actually can't say from personal experience. I used to be really ticklish on my feet and legs, but not so much along my sides. I've recently lost a lot of weight, but haven't had a change to get a good tickling in, but I'll weigh in when I get a frame of reference.
 
Though the thought I'd be more ticklish is kind of...scary. I'm already so ticklish on my sides to the point where I go in near hysterics when they're even touched.
 
That's true . When you lose weight you become more ticklish as your neural network is more exposed
