I think what's hardest is not knowing if they like the other person more than you or not, or actually, maybe whats worse is knowing she likes you both equally. In that case, theres closure in her liking someone else more.
Another thing is actually being a friend to the person that likes the person you're interested in too. It really can try the friendship and you never really look at your friend the same way again, at least not until it's over.
In the end I laughed when neither of us ended up with her. What a mistake that would have been. This was in highschool by the way. I'm glad it wasn't as complicated as it could have been.
I actually became more interested in this girl only after another female friend of mine tryed to play match maker and get us two together. This friend of mine would later reveal the last day of school (senior year) that she liked me the entire time but could never bring herself to say anything.
Don't you hate it when they do that? Its like if they would have just told you sooner you would have been together without the fuss. Women are just as embarassed as men to ask someone out. And the icing on the cake was THAT it was the last day of school and I would only see her a few times more and then never again.
Alas, "those were the days". LOL ^^
