M*a*s*h

Pretty ironic that this is my first post!

To finish up the only bit of trivia still hanging, Harry Morgan's character *before* he played Col. Potter was "General Bartford Steele".

This is, without a doubt, my favorite show ever. It's a rare show that allows one to feel happiness, sadness, unease, and anger in the same episode. MASH did that several times. That said, there's no way I can pin down my favorite episode. I like so many of them, and i watch them over and over again. Happy, bittersweet, quirky, sad, I loved most of them.

To get somewhat on-topic with the board, the best glimpse of feet on the show was the episode where Father Mulcahy wins the time with Lt. Dish, where, at one point, the camera starts at her feet and works up her legs. Also, I believe it was the only partial female sole shot on the show, but I could be wrong. The Hot Lips foot inspection episode showed Loretta Swit's toes, but Lt. Dish definitely had better feet. A better Hot Lips scene actually showed up in an episode this week, in which she came back from a conference in Tokyo ("Suppositories: The Bullet of Health" always cracks me up) and shows her stockinged foot from the side. I always hoped they would show Nurse Kelly's feet, since she had a cute face, and that's a good combo for me, but alas, no luck. Oh, and the Potter "tickle" always creeped me out, since I don't care for m/m at all.

Anyway, long time lurker on the boards (since 98!) and first post - in a non-tickle forum. More to come.

And I am honored that you chose to dig up this, my old thread, to make your first post ever here. Welcome. ^__^

Thanks to morphtk for bumping this thread.

OMG....I'm surrounded by tickle-loving M*A*S*H viewers....somebody pinch me.

lol.....well, I'm not a homophobe, but I seriously was hoping for a female to take the bait.....honest 🙂

Well, its too late for that, now isn't it? Besides, I'm handsome for a man, so don't feel too bad, ok? Its not like you were pinched by an orge. 😛 I'm also hetrosexual, so you have absolutely nothing to worry about. 😛

lol....well, I know how irresistable I am, so I guess ur forgiven. I'm just glad that I said pinch me instead of bite me....🙂

Yes, I just couldn't resist the pinch. They say opposites attract, but we're both fine specimens, now aren't we? Maybe that had something to do with.

Reverse magnetism my a$$ 😀

I guess you don't see humility as a virtue, do you, Vlad?

Of course I do. But theres different forms of humility for different things. Being confident with one's physical appearance is not a mistake or shortcoming nor is it vain. As long as I know what I'm saying is not unreasonable I don't see how or why there should be a problem with it.

And given the contexts in which him and I had that exchange, it wasn't too serious.

LOL

Those last few posts killed me! Back to the topic...

I loved M*A*S*H* and my favorite character was the one I identified with the most, Radar O'Riely.

He was kind, niave, saw good in everyone, and was liked by most. He also had that "pyschic thing" going on. I often finish other people sentances, and have a friend who as a joke will call me "Gaydar O'Roo" when I do it, as a spoof on Radar.

lol......

I guess next time you need to specify that.

I almost replied the same way, but if you didn't want a straight guy to do it, you REALLY wouldn't want a gay guy to do it! ROTFLMAO!!!!!

Meh.....Gay, straight, bi.....it's all good in the hood with Tequila. Besides, if a gay guy pinches me, for all I know, he could have a really cute lesbian friend that he could hook me up with 😛 Or a straight female friend....same difference.

Killed you aye? I am to please, I guess. 😀

As for good old, er young radar (since he is in fact young and not old) I like the bond and friendship he has with the animals he brings in and cares for. And if not for Radar's persistance with rescuing that horse, Col. Potter would have been without his trusty steed. 🙂

Yeah, that was an aspect I could appreciate too. I was raised in a household where we believed that there should be "other" life in the house besides the humans who lived there.

Over the years, we've had dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs, cats, gerbils, fish, parakeets. They were all members of the family.

Yeah, they are members of the family.

They keep airing reruns in order but then cut back into another loop, so you end up not learning everything. How was Burns replaced with Winchester's character?

Did it had something to do with the breakup with Hotlips, or maybe he died or was discharged from the military?

I'd like to know because these reruns don't show key points in the series all the time. I know how Potter was introduced as the commanding officer and why, and how/why Trapper left, but I don't know how Burns left.

Vlad, the Burns character was replaced because the actor (Larry Linville) didn't want to continue with it. Major Burns went temporarily insane and was sent back to the States (and promoted to Lt. Col.!) a little while after Margaret married Col. Penobscot.

Unfortunately Larry Linville developed severe health problems, and died a few years ago at the age of 60 🙁 He was a wonderful character actor and added a lot to the series.

That really sucks. I think of all the characters he was perhaps the most convincing, even if he often played the heel or underdog. I don't care for him going insane, but I saw it coming, but being promoted, thats really funny. And perhaps in a twisted way he deserves it.

Its a shame he's dead though, the actor. Thanks for the info and the link.

Speaking of actors from MASH that are still alive and still active, Alan Alda was/is in "The Aviator" wasn't he? Or were my eyes playing tricks on me when I saw the commericials?

Yeah. I couldn't forget his face. He's got one of those faces you remember, even at his advanced age. How old is he now?

On Jan. 28, Alan Alda will be 69 years old 🙂 He still looks very much the same as he did on M*A*S*H, except for his hair being grey. Jamie Farr probably aged the worst of the cast members; he looked about 100 when I saw him about two years ago on a M*A*S*H reunion show.

I used to always watch it and still do, i liked henry blake, was sad when i grew up and saw he died

Funny tho, my mum always says i came out of her early because i wanted to be able to watch the MASH series finale, cuz i was supposed to be born sometime after february

Oddly, I have never seen the entire final episode! The only time it ever aired locally, I missed the first half-hour. I also have not been able to find the original M*A*S*H movie (w/ Elliot Gould) on VHS for rental anywhere, so those are two "must see" items for me.

I'm debating whether or not to invest into buying this series now. Its pretty tempting but would be expensive when you consider theres several seasons worth.

Its for this reason that I didn't invest into buying the X-Files either.

LOL Missy Val you've never seen the original MASH movie? Yes...I'm, lazy...no asterisks...
It's real easy to find here, I would be more than happy to pick you up a copy 😀 😀
