Well, I dont know if any others in the Philadelphia area or who get Philly TV stations saw it this morning at 7am, but Veterans Stadium is no more. It seemed incredible to watch this ballpark which seated over 60,000 reduced to a pile of rubble in less than a minute's time. I had been to "The Vet" as it's called, three times, to see my Braves vs the Phillies in 2001, 2002, and 2003. While it was an okay stadium, and seemed cleaner and more pleasant looking than Shea Stadium in NY for all the Mets- Braves games I attended in my life when I lived there, Iam one who cannot wait to see the Phillies new park, Citizens Bank Park. I will have to wait just about seven weeks into the season, as Iam going with a tour group to see the Phillies and my beloved Braves on Sunday, May 30th. I hear it will be something, and will have an open air view of the city of Philadelphia. It is something Iam greatly looking forward to, as I've never seen a game in a new ballpark, as all the parks I've visited in my life, Shea, Yankee, the old Fulton County stadium, the Astrodome, and the Vet, were all either old stadiums or the "cookie cutters" that were built in the 60s or 70s. It will be a pleasure to watch a game in a brand new field. So, bye bye Vet, and bring on Citizens Bank Park, which I'm sure will be a new and beautiful place, and will entertain fans for decades to come.
