I found her to be a brilliant comedic performance artist in how she lived her life. Didn't know she died. I'll miss her.

Who is Marge Schott and why don't you guys like her?

Who was Marge Schott...well, that's a loaded question. As a native of Cincinnati, I have a little different perspective on her than some. She was businesswoman in Cincinnati - actually, she owned a car dealership (I don't remember the make of the auto - sorry). She was known for her love of her St. Bernards. During the 90's, she purchased the Cincinnati Reds. Marge was a chain smoking tell it like it is no-nonsense kind of person. She was often interviewed because she never hesitated to give her opinion - and she oftentimes put her foot in her mouth either by being too crass or or appearing quite bigoted. To those of in the city, she represented an old woman from a very different age who had worked her way up in the world, yet still couldn't earn respect amongst the big guys in MLB. She was forced to sell the Reds a few years ago. Other things I remember - she had a big heart and was a huge philanthropist in the city - contributing money to the Zoo for an elephant house among other things. Maybe that's why I begrudgingly liked and respected her more than others - she wasn't the hypocritical type who contributed to those things that made her popular or who said what everyone wanted to hear. She had guts. I didn't agree with her about many things, and there are many who found her to be too offensive and crude. If you'd like to see another side of her, read more here.

Thanks for the fill-in desdemona. It's seems like the Reds are cursed or something. Wasn't there a coach that got into trouble years ago for gambling? And before the gambling, he was always in front of the camera for one reason or another. His name escapes me right now, but I'm sure you being a Cincinnati native remember who I'm talking about.

It's alright because those of us in other parts of Ohio have our characters as well.😉
