Marhall Faulk, in the Top 10 greatest RB's of all time?

i just wanted to get opinions on this. a friend of mine asked me if i would put Marshall Faulk in the top 10 RB's of all time. my first reaction was "No", but then i sat and thought about it. it is possible he could be. i named about 9 RB's who i think are better than Faulk, but that would leave him at 10.

here's my list, of course it is highly debatable and in no particular order....

OJ Simpson, Walter Payton, Barry Sanders, Emmit Smith, Jim Brown, Eric Dickerson, Marcus Allen, Tony Dorsett, Gale Sayers.

what do others think?

You cant really but an order of them.......but I think Bo Jack has to be at least in the top 10 and if was between Faulk and Bo for the 10th spot I always go Bo.

That's just my opinion.

I will put my list in my personal preferance, it is debateable as well..but in my opinion...

5.Eric Dickerson
6.Marcus Allen

9.Earl Campbell
10.Emmit Smith

Prime, I believe that he belongs there in the Top 10. It is funny that you brought this up because Natural Tickler and I were talking about this very subject last night before you even brought this thread to the forum. 🙂

I think Marshall is destined to be Marcus Allen-like in terms of the great backs of all time. Everyone except for guys who played against and with them tend to not appreciate how good they really were. Personally, I think he is in the top ten. At least on your list, I'd say he trumps Dorsett, Dickerson and Allen (as much as I hate to say it). In terms of explosiveness and different ways (returning kicks, lining up as a wide out, etc) to beat you, I think it's him and Sayers at the top.

Curtis Martin is another of those - it's gonna be hard to squeeze him in the top 10 though.

hmmmm....not so sure about Faulk. I mean, he's good, but is he top 10 material? I feel #1, by far, is Barry Sanders. He beats out Emmit only because he retired early, and he accomplished all he did on the Lions, for chrissakes. Then you have, as others mentioned, Earl Campbell, Walter Payton, Curtis Martin and such. Of course, as a Pittsburgh fan, I feel Franco Harris should be up there as well as Bettis.

Back to the subject at hand, I would have to say no to Faulk in the top 10. Top 20, yes but too many have come before him that just edge him out of the top spots in my mind. But that's just my opinion.
