I have always been a Royals fan since the mid 70s, so hating the Yankees comes with the territory.
After reading the SI report on Mariano Rivera, I have to change my tune on him. He is probably the most unselfish, humble sports figure I have ever read about. No ego whatsoever, and grateful for everything he has.
If you haven't had the pleasure of reading the article, it makes you realize there are sports figures out there that do care more about the game than the accolades or the money.
On his farewell tour, he has received gifts from the teams the Yankees have played. I will have to say the most unique was the Twins present: a rocking chair made entirely of broken bats.
