Marvin been there since 2003; he could have won if he would have suited Larry Johnson
this would have gave him two good running backs to wear out the defense
I would be surprised if Marvin got fired. The fact the Bengals have made the playoffs two times during his tenure speaks volumes. before Lewis got there in 2003, the Bengals last went to the playoffs during the 1990 season.
Plus, after their D-coordinator Mike Zimmer lost his wife, and the death of Chris Henry, he managed to keep the team focused on the task at hand. I think he gets another shot next year. If he doesn't win next year, then he would be through.
Larry Johnson wouldn't have made a difference. Benson ran for over a 100 yards. It wasn't because Larry Johnson not playing that the Bengals lost.
They had a good season. They won all the games in their division, including sweeps of Baltimore and Pittsburgh. If they fire him now, then they truly would be an inept organization.
I think the way this team played this year he won't get fired. They were 4-11-1 last year. You can make a case that this team OVER acheived to make the playoffs. Remember this team lost Houshmanzadah in the off season and brought back Coles who did poorly most of the year. Then they had to deal with the death of their WR Chris Henry. This team did well under the circumstances. I think Lewis is still this team's coach next season.
