If you two don't mind sitting at communal tables with strangers next to you, may I recommend the Carnegie Deli?
Fine old fashioned traditional Jewish deli food. Huge portions. It's on 7th Avenue at 55th Street.

Whatever magic-based nicotine opiate they are putting in the sandwhiches must be the same stuff that KFC is putting in their popcorn chicken. I've been clean for about 5 days or so without getting any.

well, don't want to spoil your meal TIB, but.......
......if the McDonalds fish sandwich is the same we have here in Europe, there is absolutely NO fish in it (it's called 'Fishmac' here). Not so long ago a guy accused McD. to have used old fish in his burger and he had got a fish-intoxication (is that the right word for it??) because of eating it. He wanted to make some cash, but did not succeed because - and here it comes - McDonalds PROVED that there is no - I mean absolutely NO - fish, not a single crumb, in it. I don't remember what it consists of but it is mainly chemical stuff that make up the whole 'fish-taste-and-smell-thing'. They said using real fish would be much too risky......

I got to NYC every November for some video work, and eating at a deli is always something I must do! The Carnigie Deli with its GIANT food(I did eat a sandwhich from there for 2 days!), or the other one - can't remeber the name! - the opposite direction south, with all the big Broadway star photos and quotes on the wall.... that one is good, too. I ven like the little street side carts.
On the other hand, as I've gotten older I'm enjoying the Engilsh custom of roast beef with horseradish, too. When barbeque or fajitas aren't available.
