Me and the TMF chatroom : an (important) notice

Dear Forum members,
some of you might have seen me more than once in the TMF chatroom. After a long consideration I've decided to no longer getting into it anymore. A few reasons have made me confirm that for myself. I have nothing to do out there anymore.

The room has changed, since the "new" style arrived. Many interesting newbies, nice lay-out....but unfortunately all too much "fakers", and people whom are only there to harass others with purely nonsense. And what to say from all those people who constantly keep PM'ing without asking. Ok, this can happen once...but if someone doens't answer...isn't it obvious that the Private Message is NOT accepted? And if someone starts to mention that private messaging without asking, is actually something "not allowed"...then he or she is the bad boy/girl. Childish, really. It's a rule, so try to respect it. Luckily there are still enough interesting and nice persons around. Those people, I'll really miss. And I mean that, from the bottom of my heart. And I also hope I'll can find a way to keep in touch with them in the future.

But apart from those few people there are too many others who simple annoy. And that finally convinced my thought of no longer coming into the tmf chatroom. Somethimes its just childish around there, unfortunately to say...;but so I feel it. Perhaps some people might think about me as a b*tch now. And I'm sure some will do that effectively. Well, to those people I can only say that they have the right to think about me in that way. But at least I know that those particular people won't miss me at all. And so won't I.

I'll keep visiting the forum sections now and then. But the TMF chatroom is past for me. There is too much that keeps me away. For those who keep staying , I really wish them all the fun out there...make it pleasant, be nice with each other.

I thought I must have said this once in public, so I did.

Have a great time everyone...and for those whom know me quite well in the chatroom.... I'm sorry for this....but unless you might find a way in convincing me to get back, I won't.

I don't know you, and I don't go to the chatroom at all, but I'm sorry to hear that your experience at the chatroom has been bittersweet. I don't wanna sound selfish, but I hope this doesn't mean you've given up on writing too. I like the stories you've written, and I hope you continue.

Wait! There are insecure mean people on here? And they hang out in the TMF Chatroom? Don't be mad at them, they're angry because someone hid their welfare check underneath their work boots and they're starving! Didn't their momma's tell them to get a haircut and get a real job? It has become incredibly disorderly as far as I know. I've heard several people have left the chatroom indefintely out of sheer disgust, due to the rudeness, lack of politeness and constant heckling of others. Though I've been off the chat for a while (due to my computer being a dick... again), I've encountered quite a few people who come on there just to incite disarray and cause people to get upset. Somehow there's never a mod who's there to sort it out...

Anyway Elli, it's sad it has come to this, but at least you don't have that kinda trouble when you use MSN (hopefully). Give me a buzz when I'm on.

EEEEEP! Not I. I RARELY go in myself. Maybe once in 6 months. Not because of rudeness, I havent seen that the few times I was in, but because attempting to chat with multiple personalities simultaneously just gives me a headache....😉

There are two or three people I look for in there during my very infrequent visits. If they're not there, I'm gone.
There was a time last year when I was visiting twice a day, for good long spells. Used to be fun, there were great, funny, intelligent people in there. Not anymore.
I just don't see the point, really.

I agree with Knoxie, I go in there and see if there is anyone i know or like talking to if not I leave, some people in there are just ignorant, so I cant blame you for not wanting to go back, I dont even go in there as often as i used to

Heh. I liked the chat room best, back when it was an IRC client. I hate the look of it now. I normally don't stay for more than a minute on most visits, not really because of any rude people or anything, it's just boring.

People that are dicks I found funny more than anything, the few times something happened while I was in there. It's kinda hard to get angry at them or whatever.

If there are no moderators around at the time, one can always use the ignore button. It works quite well for most things. If enough people ignore the rude people then the rude people go away. Also if someone is constantly a problem report him/her to a moderator. We are not psychic though some of us are hyperdimensional. 😀 😀

I caught this thread late Elena, so I'll chip in now.

I'm sorry you feel like leaving. I did an experiment once when we had the old chat room where you could log-in under any name you chose. I called myself something like "ticklish emma" or "sexy emma" or summat, and entered. Within 20 seconds at least 7 guys had PM'ed me, demanding, not asking but demanding to know my age, sex and location. I'd heard a lot about what ladies in chat had to suffer and I was somewhat gobsmacked to find out it was so loony! 😱

I hope you stick around the forum's boards Elena, because you're a fun and liberated person to chat to, although I havn't spoken to you since my recent return from the "wilderness". It'd be a crying shame if you left the community altogether because of the bad manners of some, when you could chat peacefully and happily with most of the rest.

Here's the stereotypical asshat chatter that I've met:

Always with the "where are you from?" and when I say "nowhere", they're always like "where are you realy fromm>"
and if I tell them, they're like "Want to meet?" like just right when I met them 3 seconds ago, and when you say no, they get mad at you and tell everyone how much of a b**** you are! OMG!

"a/s/l" is not very annoying, but if you already know the answer to "s" and no one wants to give you their "l", why ask? And if the "a" is like 20 or 30 yrs older than mine, they're always like "Do you like older guys?"

I don't care if people like feet, just don't tell me all about feet! When someone asks me if I like feet, and I say no, they start telling me all about how soft and all kinds of things about other people's feet and my feet. The same thing goes for all kinds of other things.

Another thing is when I'm talking to someone in PM and all of a sudden, someone else PMs (without asking, tyvm) and asks if I want to chat. When I don't respond (prob cause I'm busy or distracted or in the main room), they start with the whole "I guess you hate me. I'm a horrible person for talking to you and you're a horrible person for not talking to me" lecture!

Most of the chats I have in there are good, but every once in a while, it's totally wierd and unexpected and scary.

yup i stopped going cuz of all those reasons exactly too. its become annoying and not fun, and i know people miss me from there and im sorry we can talk on AIM or yahoo if you want just gimme a PM and ill send ya my addy..

Using the chat room takes less effort than using the forum boards. It's the simplest way to talk I guess. It gets a lot of the most simple-minded chatters for that reason. They go in there with a hard-on up behind their tie-pin, expecting instant gratification and getting pissed off at anyone who isn't likewise motivated. (Especially if they're of the opposite sex.)


If someone starts talking to you unsolicited, or persists when you tell them to stop, highlight their name and click them onto your ignore list. From that moment on they cease to exist as far as you're concerned; they're trapped in another dimension. They can scream their nonsense as loud as they please and it won't get them anywhere. Just using this one tip will greatly increase the enjoyment of the decent chatter.

Furthermore, if a particular person is constantly harassing you, go to the main forum list page and click on Myriads name. Then click on his PM button and report the person concerned. If someone has enough complaints because of their infantile behaviour, they'll be shat upon from a suitably great height. Yes there are things that can make your chat room experience less enjoyable than it could and should be, but these simple precautions can restore the balance nearly instantly.

This is one huge reason why i hate being online. the large percentage of men who are rude, disgusting, no class, horny scumbags. makes me embarrassed to be a man sometimes. no wonder why i hate men so much!
