I was hesitating of playing this clip thinking its that bloody Prick Astley again :whip:

But you know 'goth that ain't bad, but I'd love to hear it all.

Metal up yer arse :mhorns: Bring it on...:grouphug:

in my opinion i love metallica... but i think they could have done better in recent years... i myself am a 5-6 year guitarist so i know what it's like to play things like that...do you happen to know dream theater? they are an accomplished band i gotta say...john petrucci and kirk hamlet all the way

Really? 'Cus they've been doin' for (I believe) 20+ years..Gee...you must have mucho talent. 😀

Yeah...And as far as developin' an opinion offa that? I can't...not yet..

There wasn't enough substance there.

*waits patiently.........kinda*

I hear potential... I keep hoping they'll break their funk and bust out some new good tunes, but we shall see if that ever happens.

i realy hope there new album goes back to the old metallica

Sounds tuneless and lacking in rhythm or drive.

Welcome back, Metallica! 😛

:whip: Hmm shut it!!! Otherwise you know whats awaiting you  :mhorns:

And anyway, thats just a small snippet of a track (maybe, they may not even use it in the final cut) 😉

A question for Metallica fans...

..and I mean the true fans who've stuck with them.

Was all the hating caused by:

1) The band going "mainstream"?

2) The battle with Napster?

Just curious to hear what the diehards have to say.

I'm gonna go for the controversial answer, as the only Metallica-hater (ALL Metallica) in the thread. :roflmao:

It's clear that Metallica fans can't admit that these guys have no songwriting ability whatsoever. However, ever since the Black Album the fans HAVE been forced to admit that the band ran out of ideas and did not have the creativity or intelligence to climb to the top again. Their last few albums have been so awful that even Metallica fans think they're shit. A band that hasn't released a half-decent album in 20 years simply can't be classified as talented.

So that's it. This fact is what Metallica fans today have to deal with. And the truth hurts.

i can picture the album cover now

all the band members are in their wheelchairs with there oxygen tanks and on the back of Hetfield's wheelchair he has a bumper sticker that says " I break for heart attacks"

What hating?

The battle with Napster was NOT Metallica, that was Lars. And he admitted that was stupid as well, and publically apologized for it.

Well I've been a fan since the Justice album and wished I had heard them long before this.

I didn't really think they had gone 'mainstream' I just thought they had changed direction and one, that didn't quite work well for my listening ears. I have loved their energy and lyrics for so long so I suppose I have faith in them to do some greatness again, hope my faith won't be flattened when the new one comes out lol.

The 'battle' with Napster I couldn't care less about, that didn't affect me in the slightest. I can see why some people would get their knickers in a twist over it and I've read a book about Metallica and it covers this whole sorry event and like Crystal has already said many times Lars was a fuckwit and apologised for shooting his mouth off, like he normally does anyway, gotta love the guy :Kiss1:

I am really hoping their new offering is too hot to touch as I want another album I can listen to and lose myself in and go fuckin mental :mhorns: 😛

Cliff was the shit

This band jumped when the anchor of their sound, Cliff Burton died.

Ride The Lightning is still their best album, even before the "Black Album" was produced, which was solid, but it was the second great eye-opener after Rush's Moving Pictures for me. Master of Puppets was a great follow up, but after that bus accident, they've struggled to find their former selves.

Jason was a great successor to Cliff, but he was more like second banana, and didn't garner any real respect of his band mates.

I still think Hetfield would have been better off breaking up the band and starting a solo career.

But what I heard in the video, may be their comeback. The riff is good, simple and to the point. Rick Rubin has turned the knobs for some of the great masterpieces like The Cult's Electric, Danzig's debut, Slayer's Reign In Blood (fucking great!) and Seasons in the Abyss (fucking greater).

He can strip the glossy surface off the schlocky sound, bust it up, and rebuild it to it's basic form producing a no-bullshit solid rock sound. He made AC/DC sound much better with that song "Big Gun". He's the best hard rock producer in the world.

Compare The Cult's Electric (Rubin) and their schlocky follow-up Sonic Temple produced by Bob Rock. I take the former every time.

This may revive Metallica. Then again, it could also be like the Dixie Chick's politically charged flop Long Way Home.

Metallica made a good move hiring Rubin.

Most likely it's gonna suck big time.
But one can always hope...

what he said...i WAS a huge fan up till the "load" album, in which they sold out to the drek that's passing for rock/metal. and havent made a good album since the black album (which wasnt one of their best, but good stuff). if this album is good, i'll be shocked. and "fly on the wall" was a 1985 ac/dc lp lol
